Absolutely fantastic vid Jonny, I wish I had the knowledge and the patience to do the video stuff. A couple of Jsy guys have cameras but I don't think anyone has produced your quality yet. Great to see somebody with a real passion for the sport.

I need to change the bands to 3 x 14mm as its a struggle to load [i popped a muscle/disc in my back last week so a bit of a wimp now]. Otherwise its very easy to use, very manoeuvrable - in fact i think the mid handle is more suited to gsy waters as it allows significantly easier rotation. effective range is about a metre more than the HF2 with 2 bands. The HF2 is pretty much faultless in my limited experience, so the CSB is pretty good too
However i will be selling the HF2...

I went in at amaroux and the south end of Chouet this afternoon saw lots of smallish bass aprox 30cm long some bigger which i went for (i don't know how big they are normally for good eating) and missed all of them i took two bigger wrasse. There were also quite a lot of spider crabs but we were not sure any of them were big enough so left them .
The vis was good up to 15m or more but ranged down to 6-7 and overall a good dive.

Hi Matt, good eating size bass are around the 50cm range, only take big male crabs, the ones with the big claws & please go easy on the wrasse mate, they are very slow growing & not very good eating!
Try hunting in the string weed at low tide, that is where you will find some nice bass.

The minimum landing size for bass is 36cm, but many people think that should be raised quite significantly.
As well as the points Foxfish said about the rockies, the other thing is they're territorial, living in one area. So once they've been shot they're gone from that place. Other species like Bass move around much more so can replenish stocks in specific locations.

Well I managed to avoid this amazing viz, was 5-6m at it's best, and spent 2 and a half hours mooching about the weed in L'Eree this afternoon. Saw a grand total of 2 fish over half a pound, both pollack of about 9 ounce.
It was barren. No bass, no mullet, no rockies bigger than 3 inches. Very depressing, especially the rockies in an area where they should be abundant. This is what happens when they're touted as a great pot bait.
Still, the suit neck adjustments worked well, as attached, and if you really want to know how barren it was, here's a few minutes film of nothing interesting.

I went in at my favourite NW spot 1 hr. before low today, first dip of the season. Initially I was humming " Ain't seen nothing yet" by Bachmann Turner, but 20 mins later "There...she....goes" as a nice 4-5lb bass flicked its tail at me and naffed off. Then for the next hour or so "Octopus's Garden" by the Beatles, then just as I was about to come out because the viz of 2-3m was deteriorating, emerged from a weed bed to see another nice 5lb bass just sitting on the sand on the bottom. Time to take a quick shot, but I think he saw me at the same time as I fired. Still, a nice swim in reasonable viz, not as many fish seen as usual, a test of the gear. Also a bit low perhaps for this spot, got it out of my system for the Jubilee weekend, now let's see if the rain will hold off for a bit to wonder down to the party at L'Islet.

Mart, a downpour forced about 500 people into the beer tent but it was fun! Luckily had been given some mackerel, crab and scallops earlier so we ran for home and had an impromptu dinner with some friends!
