I had been planning a family mackerel party for tonight but, we did it last night due to tonight's forecast, I popped out to the Platte Fougre for a hour to get 60 macks yesterday morning.
I bled all the fish as soon as they came on board, packed them on ice until I got home, fitted & deboned 120 fillets & cooked the lot in batches of 12 fillets in one pan while cooking toms in another pan.
We ate them in the evening sun with horseradish sauce & buttered bread

Last post 6 days ago. Must be the weather or the small tides. I cant get any bait.......is it summer soon?
I don't know if anyone else has noticed but JKS is definitely sneaking up in the specimen hunt. Keep em coming John!
Guernsey, prepare for an invasion of crapaux! Well "crap" something! We now have six divers confirmed as coming over for the "fish in". So far, Me, Louis, Cobus, JKS, Dan and Paul! Still waiting to hear from Neil Howarth (Apnea) who would like to get over too. All except JKS are booked into a well known hostelry ( hopefully of ill repute), and JKS , who enjoys the outdoor life, will be joining the other spearos camping on Martyns massive lawn. Yahoooo!
Actually managed a dive this morning!!!!!!
Went in the middle of Rocquaine through the weed beds on the rising tide. Managed to get these 2 and saw lots more, think I'm a bit rusty though. Really nice to be back in the water, trying to cram as much in as possible before August.

Nice job Andy great fish, probably my favoroute spot to dive down there, (shame I live in Bristol now

I'm coming over on the ferry this Friday with a couple of mates to try our luck at spearing in Guernsey (weather dependent!). Does anyone have any suggestions for a decent site/ sites to have a go at? We won't have a car so will be relying on public transport.
Are there certain places that are much more sheltered and likely to have better vis? What's the best time to dive these sites (high/ low tide etc).

Spud, we dive almost exclusively over the low water.
next weekend we have quite big tides - 9.1mt high & 1.2 low. low is at 15.38

Our East coast, you will travel down the east coats on the ferry, is ok but the opposite side, the west is much better, it just depends on the wind.

What happens in August?
Well I've sold my house and we are off to the Alps!!!
After all this time of talking the talk I'm now having to walk the walk!! Skiing, hiking and mountain biking, plus fishing in the rivers and lakes.
Like the concentration on the juggling.
