Guernsey 2013

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
All those bays are great, it is more about getting to know them!
Try different states of tide & different size tides, eventually a pattern will develop & you will start seeing more.
Stealth is another key, really try hard not to be jerky & do everything in slow mode.
Weed bed at slack water, sand over a low spring tide, fish in the shallows on hot still days......

OK thanks for that, i was getting to be a better hunter last year, i realised the first year the fish must have heard me from a mile off!
Used to do a load of wreck fishing years ago, Arnie Brayo, Brian Blondel mainly, had some great fish caught with them.....good times!. That got me the fishing bug but i only occaisionally go out now as it costs quite a lot for a day out. So the spearfishing thing appealed but never tried it....until 2 years ago and loving the getting away from everything and enjoying the underwater...even if seeing fish is a rarerity at times

managed to get in for an hour this afternoon - found a reasonably sheltered spot.
Vis is actually pretty good! but no fishies seen.

shame about the lack of fish but a gold star for effort! Vis still pants here so don't think Jersey boys will be following ur lead this weekend.

No i have been and had a look today (in fact everyday) it's bad.

I managed just over an hour in yesterday, vis was adequate but not great! only 1 fish seen but plenty of sealife on the sandy seafloor, so still enjoyable. I took my 'follower' cam float, here's the video: Follower Cam

I always like to read OMD's old posts on DB which makes me think he's always here - the power of social media......

Some of u jersey boys must have gotten in this weekend right?
I managed a dive in milky vis yesterday, and then a great session this morning 9am before the wind picked up. Totally epic conditions, calm, clear to 6m and sunny . . Just a few rockies seen today. Yesterday i was in the wall to wall mullet room again, i think with bass too, but couldnt be sure in the vis.
The follower cam project is going well, more tweaks before i look a moulding a few... Vid in progress..

Hi chaps,

My first posting straight to the point - what is the water temp now in Guernsey?

Cheers,
George

Like it you'll go far here !Don't waste yer words !Cold I would think some one will tell you in a min.Welcome to DB.

Thanks for the warm welcome I do plan to go there in a month or so, hence the question... just brought my gear from southern eu, so just checking the conditions here in the UK

Shame about the wind today, Jonny, would have been nice to test the follower cam. Next week end looks even worse, according to windguru.

That Vid is stunning Jonny! great work indeed.

How barren is it though, I wondered why it's slow on the lures, but the upside is the small rockies have gone leaving the proper ones behind to play with.

Thanks adm, in fairness i was choosing the location for clear water rather than fishyness.

Sprit, weathers looking dodgy for the weekend..

I was in for all of half an hour today, vis still ok, but the swell is all the way down - made it exciting going out. I took my carbon spear to try and video the shots comparing carbon and steel shafts, but the swell ruined any chance of testing...

Jmike is your silver/speccie comps for jersey only?

Changing the subject for a moment...does anyone have a hardwood didgeridoo they dont use & might want to sell?
