For any of you gatherers, have been told that there is an impressive assortment of fungi around the footpath to Amherst School.

Not sure which footpath but I looked all around and only saw a couple of manky blushers. If someone had been through there already they did a very thorough job of it!

The one that goes through the field above the school.

Yep, that was where I presumed you meant. Nothing to be seen down that path, someone must have cleaned it out. You'd usually expect to see some remnants left behind but if there were any I didn't spot them. Not to worry, found some areas that looked worth revisiting at a different time of year so not a complete loss.

Bubble blowing, can't get deep enough freediving with my old lungs.

How is everyone. Very busy going by the days ticking by with no posts.
Anyone been in? Its been rough i know but every so often a lovely calm night appears like last night.
We have had a rare run of smooth hound from a very prominent island mark with a very large fish lost on the surface.
Do you see fish species like this. What about huss do you see these very often?
Hope everyone is well .....:)

I cant remember ever seeing a Huss underwater but the scuba divers do, very often while scalloping the north.
I have caught quite a few from the boat though, the humps is the hot spot.
The last few years (not this year) we have caught plenty of starry smoothhound around the Doyle.

The surfs just been too good and I've just been too busy to dive, unless it's going to be gin clear and calm in not too fussed. Still working my way through the "chest freezer of death" so I'm good for the moment, mushrooming has scratched the foraging itch as of recent, but did realize it's been 3 months since I last ended something! Looking at the mammoth low forecast this week (4-5m swell for guernsey plus the wind, peaking at 55ft mid Atlantic!) it may be a couple of weeks until the next dive

As Jonny said gin clear water yesterday. We were in for 1hr 30 mins and my feet only started getting cold in the last 15mins, but I was wearing 3mm socks! Plenty of scollies collected and some huge star and cuttle fish seen. Great to get in and a nice walk too. Vis was a lot better than expected and scollies could be seen burried in the sand a couple of metres away, but some of them were very well burried. :) (nice video Jonny)
