@Stephan Whelan yes we did, unfortunately emma was not able to be there herself this time, but we were in the very capable hands of the rest of the team. A really amazing weekend. I love that stone crusher works :)
That was my second course, did the aida ** before, we are looking forward to doing lots more...

Awesome - who were your instructors?

we had Dave Mellor, Heather Coutts, Jurgen and Zoe Stradsquitszts [ sic ;) ] - all excellent, and a good bunch of folks on the course with us too, not forgetting the lovely Jude who fed us homemade flapjacks - awesome :)

What kinds of metal could an ormer hook be made of and still work? I'm sure iron and steel would work, but I'm not sure about their supply 100 or more years ago. Maybe using them for farming implements might be a higher priority. Do you know of other metals that were used in your ancestors' days?

For any of you gatherers, have been told that there is an impressive assortment of fungi around the footpath to Amherst School.

Probably parasols, just round the corner so will have a look tomorrow.

Eric, you don't need a hook for ormering, it's just handy sometimes. I rarely take one myself. Usually you can prize them off by hand. Hooks are especially useful when you find them in cracks in the rocks, but when under rocks you could always smash them off with another stone if they'd clamped on too tight. I'm sure 100 years ag0 there would have been plenty of old iron or steel that could be used, it was hardly the dark ages!

Tom there are quite a few on the common & have been for 10 days or so but they do get picked quite heavily!
I quite often see them on the way to work but they are gone on the way home.
I found two big horse mushrooms today.

Yeh, last couple of weeks there's parasols all over, don't usually bother with them, especially as the ceps are doing well this year. Going to check Spirit's tip just in case they're not ;)

Nice kayak dive with Jonny this afternoon. Weather not to bad and the sea was nice and warm. Vis was mostly good on the bottom although there were a few cloudy patches. Took it pretty easy as I haven't been very well! Still ended up with quite a few tasty scollies in my kayak :)

Anyone else been getting in? Surely you must have been in Rockie! You must have a 5 min breath hold by now with all the walking apnea etc.. you have been doing ;)
