Fished the tide going down, didn't see a lot but getting fitter and sorted my noisy snorkel problem with an Omer, and added more lead to the weight vest to get my head down more.....nice dive anyhow

Nice dive as always with Jonny250 this afternoon. Vis was ok but not as good as the weekend and we probably made the mistake of getting in an hour or so late for the spot we chose! (My fault I think)
Anyways we both left with a bass so happy days.

I found a few bass this morning in fact I saw about 9 or 10 but got two pretty much straight away!
So that is approx 25lb of bass in two days, good fishing by any standards!
Not the best vis over the high tide but I have not seen bass in numbers like this for a few years

I do have a pic but very much the same as yesterday, one around 6.5 & one around 5.5!
No secrets, just found them in the lagoon, in the string weed over the high tide.
I cant see any other way to catch them other than spearing as the fish are deep in the weed & seem to be very relaxed, not feeding!
However I can tell form experience that this type of fishing is not consistent, but must be based on some seasonable conditions?

Hey mate, your post struck a chord, as a friend of mine once caught a fish he described as a dark coloured bass. It was returned, but after we did some digging it was identified as a shadefish (there are other names)

It would be interesting, if you thought that might be the case or if indeed it was just a large dark bass? They are very rare in our waters, and would make for exciting news if you had seen one!

I totally agree about the fish being asleep on the bottom, seen a few like that just recently, they arent coming in on the drops like i would have had last year. Had to ballast up and go back to stalking in the bootlace.
On a separate note, i just bought one of the omer weight vests - its too big for me so i'm thinking of selling it and going back to my old one or maybe bodging up a new one...
I'll be more than happy if there are some nice plump bass sitting asleep for me on the bottom
Sorry to hear that, good excuse for a new one although I think there is supposed to be a new one coming out soon, or that's what the rumours suggest
