Yes the viz was a bit snotty in places today, I was stealthing through the boot lace expecting to see the 10 lb bass appear, but he never did.

Lovely Evening and I would have loved to get in the water spearfishing. Only had a hour or so free so me and fro-in-shorts thought we would go for a quick spinning session. 3.5lb bass for me and a bigger one for fro. Result

Got in today for a couple of hours with westcoaster - appropriately on the west coast.
vis was better further out bit cloudy inshore, I saw nothing which is getting to be an annoying but regular occurrence this year but great to get in the water on such a lovely evening
Also looking for a bit of advice - I have been really struggling with my float line lately, it's been in the way, getting tangled around my fins, I know the benefits of having a float so I am persevering but it's really becoming a nuisance, a big reason I switched from scuba to free diving was for the freedom and less equipment.
I am currently using a scuba diving reel attached to an inflatable smb

I was having the exact same problem! This advice was given to me by Jonny and it worked a treat.
Swapped over to this clear tubing which can be bought from b&q and I haven't had a problem since. On the float side I use a swivel and on the side which clips to me I use a swivel and a quick release. Try to use the smallest suitable swivel and quick release you can find as at first I used heavy duty ones and they were no good as they were to heavy and clattered around and made lots of noise. Think it's just under £1 per meter.

I use 10m so it's long enough for drops and when in the shallows if I have a fish on the stringer it is well away from me.

There are other alternatives such as washing line from B&Q very similar but much cheaper.
I prefer a board to a float so I can carry spares & load my fish on top if I hunt the weed.
I carry such thing as water, spare knife, filleting knife, spare band, crab bag & torch.

I agree with you on the float vs board! Spoke to JB about a board over a month ago and ordered one. He said it would be a week to get it ready for despatch and I have messaged him a few times to find out where it is but still no reply!
I like the banks board as they are strong and can be dragged up and down the beach and over rocks. I also think they are a great piece of safety equipment wether it be for laying on to rest or when in trouble or carry equipment. Looks like I might end up getting one of the inflatable ones which I wanted to avoid. Unless I make one myself.
Personally I rarely use a float anymore, I prefer to use my own awareness to keep myself safe. Keeping an eye and ear out means you get yourself out of the way of any boats rather than relying on them to avoid you. Got in trouble with boats twice, both time I had a float and it made naff all difference. First time I got clonked on the bonce by an oar from a racing row boat, the second I had the 12m line to my float severed when a boat steamed between it and me. Both stories back in the archives somewhere, and was it Ed that once found a load of windsurfers using his float as a marker to race around?

Just hate the line getting caught up in stuff, tugging along slowing you down, blowing in the wind, something else to carry to the water.
Only my opinion of course. If you are using one the washing line works well, as does some 8 or 10mm floating rope from any boat shop. You don't need the full length in this, just the 3m next to your body. As long as that bit floats and is a bit stiffer you'll not get tangled up and the rest can be thinner to reduce drag.

Alright dive with Seaweed last night, new spot and was hoping to see more, saw a clonker of a mullet in the shallows but too far away for a shot, then had a bass swim past my head which took us both by surprise. Then saw very little after that. I think this spot is promising for future dives and some nice reef areas found.
There were about 20 ducks swimming as we were heading in, they were looking seriously tempting, not sure if coming out the sea with ducks on your stringer is allowed....probably not

Got in twice today I was so keen ha again saw nothing ... I must be doing something wrong this year 
I did however have one of my best dives, a new float line and a quickly rigged bodyboard has made the whole spearfishing experience effortless and a lot more enjoyable, thanks again for everyone's advice, my new set up works a treat - now just need to try and get hold of this elusive John from Banks Board - oh ye and find some bloody fish!
