OK, I admit, it is not a country, but some German company's morality filter...but it is the same trend.Ihr Zugriff wurde aufgrund der Filterkategorie: "Weapons" verweigert.
Yes, I sometimes get one of those whenI visit a particular craft tool supplier - although I can click through it, knowing that my access will be recorded & reported. In that case I think they mistake harmless "gouges" (a chisel-like tool) for something far more gruesome. Overall it is a pretty poor, ineffective filter mechanism - but at least they are trying. When I try to access Spearguns section of the forum I get this message:
OK, I admit, it is not a country, but some German company's morality filter...but it is the same trend.

I also live in Sweden and even if i dont like the laws its the law and instead of smuggeling try to change it or leave the country.
You smuggled and broke the law so suit your self. I have almost zero respect for people who break the law.
How fucking Swedish.
That totally depends of the law, right. This particular one is ancient and not related to fishing at all, more to the general gun laws in Sweden.
But it's a rediculous thought a speargun would be used in crime, and to make it more rediculous bows and even compuond bows are legal and you don't even need a license for them. Contradictory. Top that off with the short season (for most) and cold murky waters, the wholething gets even more pathetic.
For me this is a pain in the ass since I'dlike to store my gun between visits to countries where spearfishing is allowed, but that has turned out to be impossible so now I have to keep it in the country I visit the most and borrow gear if I go somewhere else.
I hate this over zealous bullshit. Instead of going after the serious problems we face, the government does it's best to mess up the life for law-abiding honest people.
We do not advocate breaking the law. Jakelol is right, if you don't like the laws, work to change them. Now is as good a time as any to campaign for change, judging by recent votes around the world.
BTW Is gun ownership common in Sweden? The police on Wallander "pack heat". Mind you, it seems like the police in England are often armed these days - didn't think I would ever see the need for that in my lifetime, sad
Re. Sweden being messed up. It may not be perfect - where is? - but I think Sweden has a lot going for it. The spearfishing restrictions may be a little parochial and unnecessary but it has a lot of interesting and admirable cultural history (as well as the more notorious Viking history of course!). Some of it under threat now (e.g. the moving of manufacturing of fine edge tools and blades and angling equipment abroad, the decline of SAAB & Volvo).
I expect that is the sentiment driving the recent spate of unpredicted votes around the world. People fed up with the consensus politics that have evolved - often without voter approval and to the disadvantage/cost of many voters. Seems like the Nordic countries are, at least, run primarily for the benefit of all their citizens - at least that is the impression we're given....Politicians steered by statistics and numbers rather than the voice of the people. ...
So I'm going to use that as an excuse for this comment.
