How to get GoPro HD wide to focus under water?

I fitted a Blurfix to my Hero2 a couple of weeks ago. The quality of the kit and the supply of extra O rings and sealant had me impressed. This system also retains the standard GoPro lens so the water leak risk is reduced. The kit also accepts colour filters

The underwater video quality issues I had with the standard lense are solved and the above water performance is unchanged.

When I contacted Go Pro ear christmas I told them that I had heard rumours of them releasing their lens in february 2012, i asked them if this was true and if I should wait for it or buy a 3rd party lens.
They told me that, yes a lens was being released and I should wait.
When februar came along I contacted them again and they informed me, it is actually now going to be released in the fall sometime ... needless to say, as a canadian i will not let anoher year go by... and 50$ is not a great price, maybe in comparission to the others, but anything can look good in comparision! The point is that any one who knows a flying **** about cameras or optics could have told you this would happen. To charge 50$ a year after the product is released seems like a poor response, I would rather give my money to a company with better ethics (and intelligence) like SRP or someone else

Backscatter and Uk-Germany housings seem to support the widest angle setting without vignetting. are there other mods/housings that do that as well?

you must buy some flat lense or make your own some of the underwater cam comes with the free flat lense and much cheaper

For $40 I think, go to eBay and buy an Oculus flat lens for the GoPro.

It comes with a second one as a spare.

Split the cost with a buddy / fellow Freediver or spearo.

Working well for me so far.

Wow, some of the people on this thread really crack me up. Why on earth would you wait for gopro to put a flat lens out instead of putting an aftermarket one on and going on about your day. Its not a good business decision to provide a solution to a major problem for free or for cheap. They took forever to make a lens while there were 10+ companies that fixed this issue before the gopro 2 came out. Regardless, they are still selling a shit ton of these and complaining about the issue wont fix it.

thats why new companies have resolve some of the problems by putting s flat lens and having a lcd at the back so you could review your shot even on the water, you dont have to wait to go to your pc to see it .and lower than the other price but has a high quality as them.we are sellin at a lower price. simple we sell direct to the consumers to diver from a diver

My mate was at a US trade show and gopro was there. They said New housing wwas just about to come out for $50 US. There is also a new gopro knockoff that comes with a flat lens and LCD out of the box for 250 ish. I'll get the name.

We recently updated our website to include an instructional video on how to remove the standard GoPro lens and replace with the MAKO flat lens. The housing is identical for the GoPro Hero 2, and the predecessor (the GoPro 1080 Hero), so the lens works for both.

It really is a simple and very beneficial up grade if you still have a standard, convex lens on your housing.
We now offer a new lens made of Marklon AR which has an extremely hard exterior layer which makes it as hard as glass, but without the susceptibility of shattering (like glass).

Hi all!

What do you think about Subprof housing?
CARCASA GOPRO CON LENTE PLANA FLAT LENS HOUSING

It looks very similar to "future original gopro housing" (rectangular lenses ans so on).

Any opinions are welcome, I'm trying to make a chioce between this housing and SRP Blurfix kit.

For me... I'll stick with the much smaller oculus flat lens (or any other 3rd party lens modification) for hydrodynamic reasons, as I have mine mounted to my mask.

I may need to re-evaluate once I'm diving with it deeper than 60-70m.

Maybe next year??
