Hyperfin from Triton equipment

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Yeah the gluing was a problem with mine too. Max said he might have gotten a bad batch of glue. I don't know, but no reason not to believe him.

But after I glued the edges proper, it hasn't come apart since then.

Max told me the same thing. He's switched glue venders again.

I glued my fin back together and let it dry for a couple of days. I just got back from the pool- where I did a 2km swim- and everything seems to be holding- for now.

On a side note, I did the swim without my ankle brace- so I guess that every thing is on the mend.

Roberta here in Vancouver has had major debonding on her Triton as well -- only a few weeks old.

I should probably put up some pictures, but my first fin has been solid since before the blue hole trip last November. The side rubber near the tip of the foot pocket is dried and cracked - most likely because I frequently went from very very low temperatures into an 82F pool and back again - so the fin was frozen and thawed many times, but the top rubber on the footpockets is fine. I use that fin for open water.

Max did something different in my new fin - I think he used screws in there - anyway - after many many hours in the pool it shows absolutely no signs of wear. The pocket end - which is glued down on my other fin, is not even attached directly - but it does not move - it looks like the footpocket is attached inside instead.

Its a major drag that some of his fins are coming apart, but it does appear to be fixable. Hopefully he can get past these problems and have more solid quality control.

I don't understand why freezing and thawing would have that much of an effect on the glue- it didn't with any of my Waterway's or SpecialFins. My hyperfin has yet to see any water that I would call cold as of yet. My other fins had all been under the ice with me many times without any issues.

I bought a monofin for me and my friend. (October I think.) My left toe came off after only one poolsession. All the way to where the wing starts. I glued it with superglue and it has been working until now. It is starting to crack up abit. My friends monofin (identical) had the excact same problem. It just tooka couple of weeks more until it happened.
It`s an awesome fin, but it doesn`t last very long does it?

Hi everybody,
I am Andrey from Russia read a lot from this forum during last 4 months I think, and decided to write about my fin ordered from Max too. I was a professional finswimmer but now swim just on the Black sea and in pools just for myself. I had an old fin, don't know who made it as bought from my coach 8 years ago. Of course my 8 years old fin is not good to swim any more, that is why I decided to buy a new one. Sure, I was hesitating to buy it from Max as read about this glue problem. After two weeks of conversation with Triton, I got his "word" that this problem has been solved and I ordered a fin and received it 3 weeks ago. And I am really happy of it!!! I really didn't expect such performance of this fin. I can say as a professional finswimmer in the past that probably I would had really good results if I would have such fin as a finswimmer previously. I finswam 100 mt. for 0.41.9 what is my best result in spite of the fact I didn't exercise a lot. And what I found that Max made with this fin: he used a screw with metal piece (base) in the sock under rubber what is invisible but for sure will never unglue.
So, his new fins I can recommend to everybody. I wish you not to have problems with your fins too, hope that cyanocrilat glue will help if you have problems. I remember that when I was a finswimmer we always took this kind of glue when went on the competitions. Thank you very much for comments about all manufacturers and that I made a correct choice.

Someone could tell if the soft blade is enough for cw?I hav 1,83 cm and 78 kg.
Even the soft blade in the triton can handle a litle speed? when I train dynamic I train hard mode with the more speed the better, even when having fun I like to add some speed, of course when it touches to cw it is another story I tend slow not so much but enouch to avoid ear/lung problems

still I hope someone can answer my question, thanks

I spent 4.5 hours in my fin today after gluing it back together earlier this week. So far everything seems to be holding and I hope it will last for a while. I simply re-glued some of the weak spots with the glue that Max told me to use.

This thread only helps me to be healed from fancy/expensive mono.
My WW 1 seems to be the most solid, dependable, efficient and cheap propulsion out there.

Good luck anyway, I hope You will fix the issues and will finally start enjoying smooth operation

That's just because you haven't had a chance to try mine out yet Peter.

Once you try it you'll see the difference over your fin- as I used to own one just like it.

Just an update on my newest fin from Max. Whatever he did on this one (screws in there somewhere) he has definitely defeated the glue issue. I've got probably 100 hours on this fin now with zero signs of anything coming loose.

The glued down toe of the footpocket is no longer a structural focal point.

This is an awesome fin. I understand what Will T meant when he said the tight footpockets on his Waterway help him feel the water.

Funny I'm not the only person having problems with Max's Monofins He had agreed to refund my money and once I recieved the funds I would return the mono Nothing! no refund no return phone calls no return e-mails MAX MAX MAX Bad Boy If you say you will do something do it! otherwise you just look like a schmuck.

AQ - have you talked with Pete? He's Max's sales rep in this hemisphere and can probably help sort out the communication problems you seem to be having.

In this beautiful summer, I have had time to use the Triton fin I own outdoors in the bay. The footpockets are comfortable .... and time in the water is a joy with a monofin.

It is truly a pleasure to revisit. The time in the water is very satisfying, but calls one back...

It is astonishing how much more pleasurable than bifins a monofin seems to be. I enjoy no-fins very much as well, and a monofin the most.
