I was hoping to get out over the weekend myself, but I won't bother if it stays like that. Storms really carved up the beach over the winter...looks like it took a lot of the rocks and shale away and just left the sand which is what's causing the bad vis.

Drove an hr found choppy water and couldn't see 3ft to bottom so drove around scouting few places.. Not a total waste of time

About 10mm of viz off most of the Wexford coast ,brought the kids for a ''drive'' yesterday.

Interesting International Space Station video of the Southern English coast and parts of Ireland on Ch4 earlier tonight, you could see large areas of coastline especially around the Thames estuary and Dover that were just a shade of brown. The astronauts actually commented on how much run off was to be seen around the coast.
Some nutters also posted a video on Youtube which had several people ringing me to say don't go out for a dip this weekend;


A bit of research later showed that they were a bit off the mark but we're seeing something never recorded before;

out in the boat today... viz mank all over, but caught about 60 coalfish on pollock rock.. decent size at 4-6lb coming up in 2's and 3's wished I had my speargun + suit

I was out on the E Coast of Scotland on Fri. and there was also loads of Coalies about 4-6lb. Can't recall seeing so many as early in the year.......It feels like it may be a good season already

12lb of collie in 3 fish on a set of feathers is great fun.... I've got that feeling for the season

We had a glut of coalfish once, they invaded our shores, even the harbours were full of them!
They stayed for two weeks & disappeared never to be seen in such numbers again.
People still talk about the event, it was like a winter festival & of course a mass slaughter!!
OK eating & very hard fighting....

Nope, tried some flatties in harbour but only got pin whiting. Fishing was terrible all day except for 20mins outside harbour. But weather was so bad we didn't stay, and I had to call it a halt as wed no room on the boat.
Flatties are defo a focus for the year.
