Good man, look forward to the feedback! Regardless of how they perform, at least you know they'll look cool, which is the most important thing, obviously! rofl

What hardness are you going for? I'm a bit stuck between Hard and Medium, can't decide!

I know mate this is another problem: HARD or MEDIUM???? I been using firs the Cressi gara 2000 after Omer ice and Mares avanti pro for travel now with carbon I'm a bit confused even if I'm tempted for the hard version :head

You are 100% right there, technique and correct stiffness are most crucial. The difference between the different models of carbon fins are so small you will barely notice it.
Apart from making them longer, wider, foot design or angle carbon is pretty much carbon!
C4s are not the be all and end all. I used a pair last year and they seemed similar to other carbon fins.
One of the guys I dive with has the c4 flaps and now uses leaders and hasn't really noticed a difference (apart from his wallet)!

I know Badlander from the cornwall forum didn't encounter any problems when he ordered his fins but thought i share what had happened for me. I ordered some new fins from www.fins4u.co.uk in early Feb. After they were long over due i conacted them to question what had happened and was told they were last in the post. I was then assured that a new pair would be with me by the end of the following week. They should have been here a week ago now. The first time i contacted them they seemed concerned and helpful. Now after they sent me an order tracking number they dont seem bothered and refer me to parcelforce tracking! Looking at the order tracking it left its country of origin on the 12th of this month. It has now been sitting in Amsterdam since the 26th. This is the slowest service i have ever delt with. I thought one of the deals with offering and internet shopping service was to also ensure quick postage. It is no suprise my first set of fins got lost in the post.

It is a good job the weather is crap for the weekend because i won't have any new fins to play with!!

Just got a reply from fins4u on the cornwall thread. Thanks for the reply. I am desperate as hell to get them in the water.

Hey guys,

I'm looking at the stereofins WAVES carbon from the leaderfins website and the price listed is 130 euros. This may seem like a stupid question, but the price just seems too good to be true. Does anyone know if this price (130 euros) is for a pair of fins or is it just for one blade? I'm sure someone that has already purchased a pair would know. For me, it just seems too cheap to be selling a pair of carbon fins for 130euros.

hopefully it's a pair

here is the link:

Hey I know this might be a stupid question; but the price sounds too good to be true. On the official website of leaderfins they have listed their stereofins Waves Carbon for 130 euros.

I'm just wondering if this price includes both fins (as does a pair cost 130 or is it just the blade??) If anyone has bought them, please help me....to me it seems a little too cheap, if you compare the price to other carbon(even fiberglass fins).

thanks, Arion

I just got some leader fins. I looked at the link you posted and could see nothing other than a full set of fins, blade and footpocket. The fins i got, LeaderFins.com were amazing for the price too although i got them through the uk agent. The earlier posts i put up about the delay were a one off mix up. Dave from fins4u has been great in helping to sort it out. I love my new fins. Go for it.

I had a few dives now with my Leader fins and I did't expect to be so good, all I can say they are so light that you dont even feel to wear it they have also a good kicking response I mean they push you fast with less efforts specially when you've to leave the bottom and this is good when you're running out of oxigen. And If you want a good service log on fins4you.co.uk I got mine both for £130 complete with omer footpocket. Highly reccomendable.

Hi,
I thought I chime in again here. I bought leaderfins Carbon Waves medium stiffness some time ago und used them frequently in the pool since. I really like them for pool training, but for greater depths, say beyond 25, 30m, they are a bit too soft, at least for me. I use C4 Falcons 30 for deeper spearfishing and rope diving, but was never totally happy with them. Now I got the opportunity to try the "hard" version of the Leaderfins Waves Carbon, and I liked them very much too. There is quite a difference between "medium" and "hard", and I think the "hard" here is rather what you actually would expect to be a "medium" normally, while the Leaderfins "medium" feels pretty "soft" :duh. Anyway, compared to my Falcons 30 (which correspond to a medium stiffness), the "hard" Leaderfins are almost of the same stiffness, just a bit softer maybe. But they are very comfortable, very precise, very reactive, they give you good power, and after comparing the two intensely in the water i felt that the Leaderfins work better for me than the Falcons.

So, just for those of you who don't have the opportunity to try both, medium and hard, consider that the medium stiffness is pretty soft, and what they call hard is a good medium, compared to other brands (for example C4, or Cressi Gara fins and Omer - the ones I used so far).

By the way, C4 is not at all "another world", it's just the first brand that made carbon blades, it hast a good image and is very expensive. But in the meantime, there are many other manufacturers that produce excellent carbon fins. I am convinced that the differences between carbon baldes of different brands are minimal. It all depends from choosing the right stiffness, fin shape and a really well-fitting, good footpocket. Then it gets less important wether the fins are "pure T700" carbon and have "C4" written on them or are a Leaderfins Wave model for half the price. The only thing that counts is how you like them in the water. Therefore, if ever possible, try before you buy!

cheers,
ivo

Hey Scorp

thanks for the information on the stiffness. That was really useful. May i ask were you bought your leaderfins?

good thread as im in the market for some carbon fins, wondering if they have the blades by themselves?

hi guys as the uk agent for leaderfins we might have a better price for you..shipping is standard price £15 for one pair anywhere in the world, and no bank charges...also i would echo what SCORP says regarding stiffness of the fins.

good thread as im in the market for some carbon fins, wondering if they have the blades by themselves?

They do sell the blades by themselves, I'm thinking about ordering a pair but can't decide between medium or soft, I use C4 30s, I had knee surgery and have not recover my strength so it hurts after a while. I think I'll order from the UK dealer since they accept paypal, even though it a little bit more expensive since is in pounds and not euros.

Pretty sure they sell the blades on their own, PM kkdavids he’s the man in the uk for all things Leaderfins.

Hey I ordered a pair of carbon WAVES medium stiffness...I'll be trying them out next weekend and will reply with some feedback....
