Yep the vibe here today is somewhat better
Magnificent effort from Herbert today, watching him in training for the last couple of weeks has been fantastic and there's not a more deserving person.
All in all I think it was a good day's diving. My dive went off well, I have to have a big thank you shout out to Igor the Russian captain for offering me 2 of his fins and his finsocks, and an especially big one to Willliam Winram for lending me his fin which I used for the comp. It was a little big but a 3mm sock fixed that up. Saved me dude!
After my dive I got called up to the barge to get interviewed on live tv. I was vague and tired (literally about 2 minutes after my dive) and the first question she asked me was something to do with the physiology of the human body underwater... Damm, lady - why don't you give me maths test too! Was ok though and whatever rubbish came out of my mouth she translated into something more palatable (I hope).
Static on tomorrow in a super-warmed pool, it's hovering around 30 degrees, sometimes 32! After fin-testing yesterday morning I hopped in and did a PB in no wetsuit, first time for that!
We're all a lot happier with the new dynamic pool arrangements too. It'll be lot safer and even if it is still the same temperature it'll be so much safer and better than the crap pool. I know a girl that got sick an hour after being in the crap pool and has been throwing up ever since, and even did her dive today in between throwing up.... what a trooper!
Most other people made their dives today, including Thomas the Norwegian guy with a new Norwegian record. There's been a few national records go - the quality of athletes is fantastic.
Game on!
Cheerio,
Ben
