A job well done Marwan, my friend. I should think aknowledgments are in proper order from the organisers, who are not probably aware, or have the time to be, of the great work you have taken upon yourself. Please keep it up for the rest of the competition. Salam Aleikom!

Marwan, .....I can't thank you enough!!! What you have done was not only generous, but you did an outstanding job as well.

Everybody who who reads this post should give REP POINTS to Marwan for his kindness.

Thank you once again,

Jim Doe

Marwan, your flu was providential for all of us, thanks a lot!!! With all the rep power that you will be receiving you are probably going to become the most powerful man in DB! (Still, second to Island Sands in the overall ranking!):t

Yep the vibe here today is somewhat better :)

Magnificent effort from Herbert today, watching him in training for the last couple of weeks has been fantastic and there's not a more deserving person.

All in all I think it was a good day's diving. My dive went off well, I have to have a big thank you shout out to Igor the Russian captain for offering me 2 of his fins and his finsocks, and an especially big one to Willliam Winram for lending me his fin which I used for the comp. It was a little big but a 3mm sock fixed that up. Saved me dude!

After my dive I got called up to the barge to get interviewed on live tv. I was vague and tired (literally about 2 minutes after my dive) and the first question she asked me was something to do with the physiology of the human body underwater... Damm, lady - why don't you give me maths test too! Was ok though and whatever rubbish came out of my mouth she translated into something more palatable (I hope).

Static on tomorrow in a super-warmed pool, it's hovering around 30 degrees, sometimes 32! After fin-testing yesterday morning I hopped in and did a PB in no wetsuit, first time for that!

We're all a lot happier with the new dynamic pool arrangements too. It'll be lot safer and even if it is still the same temperature it'll be so much safer and better than the crap pool. I know a girl that got sick an hour after being in the crap pool and has been throwing up ever since, and even did her dive today in between throwing up.... what a trooper!

Most other people made their dives today, including Thomas the Norwegian guy with a new Norwegian record. There's been a few national records go - the quality of athletes is fantastic.

Game on!

Cheerio,
Ben

Marwan you are the man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unfortunately I couldn't follow you life report , but was reading through it right now and almost felt like I was there. I even gave a cheer and jumped when I read herbert doing 111m (good nobody was here to see me doing that rofl )

HEERBERT HERBERT HERBERT HERBER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEEEEEEEEEEE

Please please please tel me someone taped this . ??????? Filmed with so many cameras that must clearly be the best footage ever.

Anybody ?????? I would gladly volenteer bandwith/webspace to make this available to all.

I reckon even the athletes will have to buy their own DVDs after this WC , If me girlfriend comes home from Egypt i will make a private copy ;) immediately.

My feeling is that they will try make the most money out of selling dvds and sell clips to variouse broadcasting firms/sport channels around the world once th WC is over.

I might be fiddling a make some misstake later on with my "private copy" and it might slip in a link to my webserver "by misstake" ;)

Still i read from where i left it yesterday and the tension of the "live" broadcasting was amazing, i also cheered around when the white card was given to Herbert! :)

excellent reporting dude, you gotta get a job in media! Lome is right, that 's how it should be, even our sport can be exciting to watch not only practice.

rofl rofl that lady was the funniest thing today, she knows nothing about the sport, cant really blame her, only 3 egyptians or so freedive professionally, but she was extremely funny, kind of like the female version of Borat if you catch my drift, you guys should have seen the look on the faces of people like herbert, when she asked him, why! he doesnt have a girlfriend rofl rofl it was a great moment soooo mad my damn video wasnt working it should have been taped...:vangry

Although I would love to see the footage, personally I do not find it very ethic. The people who filmed the event spent a lot of money in their equipment, and also for the possibility to be there. Some of them make their living with it. The intentional "mistake" violates their copyrights, and it is not really nice and friendly from you, especially considering that at least some of those cameramen are directly from our freediving community and even active members of DB. I doubt that they will make big money with selling the videos, and it is very well possible that they won't even cover their cost. I bet though, that there will be some clips realeased for the public domain, or that some videos will appear on the web legally.

Just heard that Jyri V got a yellow card (56 vs 70m) and Johanna Nordblad DQ for SP...So if that is true, then of course the Finnish team is a bit less of a favorite :(

Oh well, anything can still happen

I do not find it very ethic too arrange a WC and not being able to meet the standards when it comes to deliver news to the public.
Especially when it's a tiny sport and they does not sell broadcasting rights to other countries then Egypt itself.

We could go on forever talking about ethics , but I wont do it in this thread or any other tread either cause ppl always have different opinions in this matter and that is the nice thing about democracy , that we all have the right to think what we want , and also make our own decisions. As long as we are ready to take the consequences off our actions.
End off discussion from my part.

Jome,

Sorry about the yellow card, and tell it your team, it was only the first third of the comp! Go,go,go Finland! The cold water dynamic will be verry interesting...

i know that yehia tried to broadcast it on more channels then the egyptian, but it is a tiny sport and therefor there will not be any interest at the channels.

Thnx for the info Emil !
Trying is like saying maybe or I will se if .... in my book !
Im sure that if people only made an effort and would be thinking of something else then making money out off DVDs etc then we maybe even could have read the news on the official website.

My personal opinion ! Cheers Andy

PS: Emil hälsa Isabelle ifrån hennes pojkvän om du stöter ihop med henne ;)

i am glad the organisers are not updating the homepage right now. it takes all their effort to have the competition running and that is for sure something to prioritize. ofcourse they could have planned it better in the beginning.

tomorrow sweden men will advance after statics! beware of the swedes they are in top shape!

I think Denmark will win the static or Finland, but hopefully Sweden will be strong too...:)
