This is a very interesting thread, to me it brings up the classic problem in N.A. society, the inherent conflict between what the US coins say on them and how they are used. This conflict was first commented on just before the US Civil war. In a nut shell the country claims to promote fellowship and sharing, as does Deeper Blue, but the economic system promotes profit taking
and a hierarchical system power based on profit and knowledge. The cost to the country is institutionalized poverty. What is the cost here on Deeper Blue?
This is far more than idle rhetoric, I saw this first hand while freediving in Cuba this summer. When a car broke down on the highway other cars pulled over to help. After I returned, I was trying to fix my red car on the road next to a church that was just letting out, all I got was "hey you are in my way comments".
Capitalism and fellowship don't mix!
