almost done! it has been tough waiting on the tooling to be complete but that it done and it is now at Rotonics in So Cal waiting for the first article to be produced. Apparently the tool needs to be "cured" - run a few times to work out the bugs, etc. I should have my first run of production next week.

I will keep my fingers crossed for your first batch but the work looks so good I am sure it will run fine.

first runs were done without some of the sliding pins and these pics are of "untrimmed" pieces. Still they give us an idea of the final part.

how much in nz dollars?
how do i order one?
I am currently trying reach an agreement with the molder regarding price. I think it will retail somewhere around 200 US = about 300 NZ dollars. Hopefully I will be sending some to Aus but NZ would be a great place for it. Do you know how much those Plats are?

Here is a pic of it floating in a tub of water with 52 lbs on it.

John

I've watched the developments of this with great interest. I still find it amazing to see a product reach a point where it requires the commitment of a mould to batch produce. Well done! , Can't wait to see a picture of it afloat with a stringer full of fish on it!

i know making them out of fibreglass works out very expencive.
iv'e got one made out of a body surf board rated @90 kg
this has stainless steel fitings to clip on a catch bag ect, also it has an electrical lead tidy on it for controling exess line.
this still looks a bit home made but very tidy
allup cost incuding catch bag $200 dollars nz so $300 dollars for a factory board seems reasonable to me
once i work out how to attach photoes i'll post some

this time?

here's hoping

Looks great! Similar to my boogie board setup. I am curious what species the gauge measures.

In my float the self bailing quality allows a low center of gravity and stability. it is designed to allow water to flow out as fast as it can flow in, minimizing drag.

the multi measure is for male, female crayfish[lobster54/60mm across base of tail]
scallops for central and northern areas[90/100mm]
oysters[58mm]
paua[abaloni 125mm]
on the under side not in the photo is a fish measure sticker
this covers all fish and shellfish regulations for the whole of new zealand
we have some heavy penalties here for non compliance starting at $250 for a single
fish not measured correctly, very quickly rising to confiscation of equiptment used in gathering [your car and boat]
not that it stops poaching

what is a trophy ab size there? here it is 250mm/10 inches. It is fun hunting for trophies here (northern california). Is it the same there? I can't wait to go there..

Shrek, thanks - I will, in fact, take you up on that offer!

As I post this I want to say one thing first - i.e. the information exchanged across this board is so good. As I scan throughout the site I find so much quality information shared in great spirit. Very refreshing. Thanks to all of those here that contibute and allow it to be contributed!

Just some pics of the board with guns. I am moving it up to my hometown San Francisco to be made at American Rotoforming. I was born and raised in the city and now my board will be.

This product is incredable. Should you want to "test" it in Gulf of Mexico, I'll sign on as a tester! Maybe you should get with Dano from Mako Spearguns as distributor???? It really looks great and I think I'd spring for a double C just to try it out. Let me know when you're ready to ship. :martial

Awesome ekinoderminator, that looks even better than the prototype. Do you have any pictures with the dive flag up? Oh heck, I just noticed that the speargun goes right through the middle - excellent, for all those spearos that want to take a second gun without trashing its finish (esp. those with exotic polished wood and/or carbon fibre spearguns).

Here is the dive flag attached - minus the spin welded piece that will become a part of the board in the final product. The stress relief fitting is removable. An old fishing pole with eyelets removed works perfect.
