new OMER pneumatic!!!

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
me wanna go back to Bahamas too.

and regarding the cayman (same grip on all models) they are tough as hell. i had 150 rough dive days on mine before ol' Neptune called it in. no failures or damage at all. I would often lean on it getting in/out the water to brace against the surf.

I agree, my esteemed Italian person. And have not ruled out buying one, if only to shoot at golf balls dropped by my easily amused dive buddy.

There is a very large hole, which is blue, in the Bahamas. As I am sure you fellow men know, it is absolutely essential that we periodically drop into the largest hole we can find - lest we wax Yin.

I see some marks on the barrel, I wonder if something heavy like a scuba tank felt on it. I am heavy handed with my guns, I have two years on my cayman, I find hard to believe that breakage.

me owns a 110! but weather is crap so cant get out.... and i do have some affinity for OMER products so not realy unbiased.... however i generally HATE pneumatics! so if this gun makes me like them then that is saying something.

initial impressions:
- not as "flash" as i built it up in my head (mind you it is just a speargun)
- great handle and very unlikely that it will break under even heavy spearfishing
- balance out of water is good and is very easy to track
- finish on the barrel is a bit shinier than on the cayman HF but is good
- BAG is CRAP!
- spear is Beautiful and a world better than the factory shafts on competitor products
- side line release in the proper spot YEAH!
- One reel as factory is very nice (same as on my "ONE" gun) but black
- ergonomic handle grip comes with the gun from factory!

as for in water use i will have to wait until the weather clears up and i'm not working to get it out on the reef.

will let you know when i get a chance.

eh eh eh:) I knew this would be a controversial product, the first major redesign in a pneumatic speargun in 15 years but jeesh skeptics!?!? Kidding since I realize the gun has it's price.

(this customer keeps sending my father reports on his AIRbalete every once in a while, my dad was a pneumatic nut back in his day)

eddie,

the 110 is a laser. making 15' + shots with full penetration on mid 40lbs bass. using this gun when the vis opens up and really seeing what it is capable of is awesome. great gun.

I bet if you guys wanted to email him directly and ask Zach a question he won't mind zachary.brittman@gmail.com

Concerning the cayman handle breakage, Omer sells _0000's of Cayman's a year, I've seen three handles like that in the nearly 4 years we've sold cayman's now, two broken during shipping. the bottom line is that with anything Omer makes it's covered by two years of guarantee and usually depending which dealer you buy one from if something were to happen you just have to take it to your local shop for a replacement.
The AIRbalete handle in my opinion is more robust than the Cayman band gun handle, what someone would have to do to break one uder normal use and wear is beyond me.

hey mark L

quick question, noticed that in the US a rubberised loading bad section is available for cayman loading pads, is this a factory OMER Italy part or something you have had made up for your market? just curious because i would very much like to make it available for the australian market as well.

i Work with Barry Adrewatha pretty closely so was hoping to organise him tom import the product if it is available.

I don't see where is the problem:

A: we, the people, we don't buy new spearguns for spearfishing (we have the old ones for that). We buy new spearguns for intellectual curiosity.

B: Bahamas are posh.

Just my 2 cents.

dude stop it i'm about to tear myself a second asshole from laughing so hard.

1) For intellectual curiositiy.
2) "My rubbers perished and im too damn lazy to change them myself".
3) The Bahamas blue hole is temporarily obstructed.

Here are several European websites that are selling the new Omer Airbalete for around $400! http://www.twenga.it/search.php?q=airbalete
So the local US price of $600 to $700 seems like a rip-off!!
youll find this to be true for most european products. Shipping, customs, distributor margin, local shop/dealer margin etc.... are components that all add up the price....Same goes for products like rob allen and rabitech..youll find a RA gun here for 400$, in SA it would be around half of that...
havent seen a lot of riffe guns being sold in europe so dont know if the reverse analogy also applies or not

It does apply. Riffe Euro 100 is being sold in Greece for 784 US Dollars right now as we're talking. rofl

Riffe - Ξύλινο Ψαροτούφεκο Eurogun 100cm --- diveshop.gr

That's 548 Euros, that is 784 USD, for a Riffe Euro 100. Silly, no? :rcard

for US you may want to cross out custom fees US does not charge any custom fees, unlike greece.

Does someone know of any video which shows the complete loading process of the airbalete.

Pneumatics are complete unknown to me.

So i have som basic questions that i think some of you easely could answer.

1: do you have to use the pump each time when reloading the gun?
(I have seen videos of some smaller guns that you just press the spear in the barrel then finished)

2:is there any pressure meter on the guns or do you count the strokes and in that way get a clue about the pressure

3: do you have the pump hanging on your bouy or do you carry it in you belt?

4: can someone estimate the time it takes to load the airbalete
( grabbing the spear-ready to run)

best regards

One of the videos above shows the gun being loaded.
Properly working pneumatics do not lose air when they shoot. They are charged only to change pressure - or when they have been drained of pressure in order to perform maintenance.
