North Wales,The Llyn and Anglesey 2015

It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
It's because people don't generally use less than 1.4mm, that's the standard thickness. If you go 1.2mm I would suggest you buy a good 1.2mm, they are not all the same. Mine is a special one which is very strong. Otherwise I would go with cressi 1.4mm, safer choice.

Hello Andrew welcome along .
As conditions were so nice and I was working near home I popped over for a fish this eve ,it was suppriseinly choppy on the south .don't know where that breeze came from .wind guru didn't get it right v light northly ! I was cooking coming out .saw gar fish missed, shoal of small pollock ,big spiders and two place . And some sneaky jellys that wrapped themselves around my face nice !No bass or mullet seen well worth the trip tho .north side looked much flater on way back ????looks like a fantastic day down the llyn to day

Hi gents,

Broseidon and myself fished the Lintel this afternoon in what was to be a pretty epic session!

This one came in just shy of 25 inches and was stuffed with crab!

Managed a quick shore dive yesterday afternoon. Conditions were fantastic, vis was good water still chill. Spotted a few bass but only scored the big one. Many flat fish about too. Happy time!

Also, forgot to share my latest video from my recent holidays in Portugal!

There you go!

So I finished work quite late last night and me and a few friends rushed over to the east side of Anglesey so me and a buddy could get in the water. Now neither of us have so much as seen a bass in the water so we were both over the moon when we spotted a shoal about 5 minutes after getting in. We both managed to land a fish each, not the biggest but a bass none the less!! Both totally extatic as you can imagine, both pretty decent shots too, his was through the top of the head from above and mine was through the bottom of the gill plate/chin. No sign of them after we landed them but I missed a couple of decent pollock and saw the biggest wrasse of my life. Came over to investigate me and it must have been pushing 6lb.

We're both off down the south side of the Llyn tonight for the first time to get out of the Northerly wind, if anyone has any suggestions on where might produce some fish it would be greatly appreaciated!

Absolutely incredible fish Dario! Was your camera on for the shot?

I took my GoPro fishing for the first time this week - failed spectacularly to turn it on for any fish shot on the first day, then left it in the bag for the rest of the week and ended up regretting it massively.

Great catch Andrew, perfect fillets on that!

Same here, I had the camera but it was not on when I shot the fish. :D Classic!

Hey Dave,

I'll give you my go pro top tip: start the camera filming as soon as you get to the hunting ground, just leave it running and only stop it after you've done or seen something interesting. That way all of the good footage will always be at the end of any clip, no need to sit scanning through hours of video trying to find that fish that you bagged!

Those are some cracking pollock Dario, can't wait to find some like that!! Me and my buddy went out again but too a different mark on Anglesey yesterday. I started the session quite disheartened by the type of open seabed with not much in the way to hold the fish in one area. But after a while we came across a decent rocky outcrop that was teaming with prawns and small crab so my spirits lifted a bit. I was in the process of trying to pull a lobster out of a hole when a bass decides to swim past me. Sods law obviously dictated that the only time I dived without my gun is when I was going to see a bass!! Anyway, knowing the fish were there we carried on, it wasn't until we were on our way back to the shore that my buddy spots a shoal of bass ontop of a mini reef. Unfotunately he missed an absolute stonker from the surface but I managed to dive down and snap up this one. Probably my best shot of any fish so far, right at the maximum distance of my guns current setup and in fairly stirred up water were I could only just make out the silhouette of the fish as it was swimming away from me. Really stoked to say the least and I think it's slightly bigger than my other one too :D

That is a great idea thanks Paul! I will definitely adopt that strategy.

As I was away for a week, I was just trying to conserve space on the memory disc and as a result was just turning it on and off before/after the odd dive.

What settings do you guys film on? I was at 1080/60 FPS with low light mode switched 'On'.

If you do this you run out of battery and memory in no time. I turn the camera on and off every dive and after a clip I want to keep I put my hand in front of the camera and run 2 seconds clip. When I go to check my clips all my good clips are just in front of a black clip.

Hi guys, thought it was about time I introduced myself on here, I've been keeping an eye on the forum for long enough. Fellow spearo from Angelsey here, albeit a bit of a newbie! I've been borrowing friends guns in the past but I've just ordered myself a Cressi Geronimo and I've got a few questions. One of which is; are there any advantage/disadvantages between using mono and dyneema? I've got a lot more faith in a knot over a crimp so I was going to go with dyneema, what are your guys thougts?

You're pulling out some cracking produce from the area by the way, if anyone's got any tips or suggestions im all ears.
Cheers, Andy.

I prefer mono for two reasons: Firstly, once or twice dyneema has cheese wired a fish I have shot. I have never really seen this problem when using mono. Secondly, I appreciate the stiffness in mono as it is less likely to get knotted together. With mono, it shapes to the gun after a while and fits into place very easily. It just feels FAR less fiddly to me!

I guess it all depends on how long you're diving, your battery capacity and card capacity, I have an extended battery and a 64Gb card, so can get a good few hours of video.

Dave, I record at 1060, 30 fps and in narrow mode, I find that normal mode make the fish look small/far away (perhaps that's because most of the fish I see are small/far away). It sounds like you have a go pro 4, as I have a gopro 3 and I don't think it has a low light option
