It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Probabley one of those random accidents, any where else wouldnt be a problem, but out poss at night with tide coming in miles from any where and people can easly turn nasty.Back to today went all round the llyn looking for vis and flatish water.Big waves high winds and hundreds off people .looked at s4 to s1 and n1 to n4 .day for surfing i think.

So does that mean it was you ?Glad to here from you !either way.

Got there in the end boys !After weeks and weeks of trying manage to get a nice 4lbs mullet this morning .wind was still blowing from south waves still pounding in weeds churning and silt making it look so inviting !.vis was good in a sadistic sort of way felt colder than 10 0c on the vyper.Only saw sand eels n floating weed.just going in when 5 big mullet nearly swam stright in to me in 2 foot of bubbly wave washed water just managed to nail the last one with the old faithfull 45 !Well happy now. 060520131459.jpg

wow that swell looks big .why were they that far round ? Take it the current whipped them round and they found them selves in the big breakers against the rocks .how did they manage to raise the alarm call ? Glad every ones ok . Looks iffy for the RNLI lads .Many thanks to them all for watching over us.

why the hell would they fish on that side? idiots.dont respect the sea and it will kick shit out of you.:ko

I don't think it looked THAT bad. They probably just got caught out a bit outta their depth. It's the guys that get dragged away from whatever they are doing to go dig em out I feel sorry for. Imagine just sitting down to a nice plate of grub and getting that call. :waterwork :head

.....I bet they'll never walk past an RNLI box without dropping something in it now! :D

Well at least we know it isn't Yeti .... he sounds normal. Imagining plates of grub as normal.

It is true.... it's not that bad..... maybe an injury forced them to the rocks.

Hmmm... as I guessed, trying to fish the East end of the beach... madness - I've done a fair bit of surfing at that end, the waves pound in against rocks - a horrible place to be stuck.

Things like this really highlight the importance of local knowledge, awareness of conditions and of course, the amazing job the coast guard do for us.

Stay safe everyone! Very much hope the guys involved make a full recovery!

Good job on getting your first fish of the year Ian!

yup! only the folk involved know what really happened. I know I've certainly been rolled and ruffed up a few times in the past (and probably will occasionally in the future too) but with a bit of padding and just old fashioned good luck I've got away with sliced suits, a few scuffs, cuts, and valuable lessons learnt from it.

Good news is they lived and hopefully learnt :crutch :friday

..........anyone know if they got any fish? lobster? surely must have been some crabs in amongst those rocks!? :D

Please tell me your in the sea someone just look at that glassy flat sea and great looking vis .Dyllun Bass d tell me you've been in anyone ?

Hi all

I must confess I've been lurking on this forum for some time - I'm a newbie/wannabe spearo and stumbled across the forum whilst searching for background info. Reading the North Wales pages has served as something of a spearfishing education, and I'd like to thank you all for sharing your reports, insights and pearls of wisdom, and for making me chuckle along the way...

Anyhow, I have been silently lurking throughout the winter as I really haven't had anything to contribute.. But reading the posts re. this weekend's helicopter rescues has changed that - I witnessed the whole thing.

The 2 chaps in question were staying on the same campsite as us. My group saw them get in the water, paddled over to them when they were signalling for help, and then called 999. One of the 2 chaps had hit his head, and was unable to move. His friend had then managed to drag him out of the water. The ensuing rescue efforts of the RNLI and coastguard were truly amazing to witness - the East end of that beach is not a good place to take a boat - waves were easily head high on the sets.

The last I heard was that the injured guy was doing ok - he was being monitored following his concussion, and had drunk a lot of seawater, but was essentially ok.

If anyone is interested there are some good photos and vids on the RNLI Abersoch Facebook page.

So that's that. I'm planning on spending as much time as I can in the Irish sea this summer - I reckon spearfishing could be just the excuse I need to get in the sea when there's no good waves, and if I can catch some dinner for me and the missus, that would be a bonus! I hope to meet some of you along the way.

Cheers,

Bob

Welcome honest bob. Your gonna love spearing the lleyn. Thanks for the info on the rescue.

I,ll be getting in at dusk. Vis is not great but should be doable. I'll sit rep later. Winds forecast for the rest of the week so probs last chance this week.

hi all. took the afternoon off to go for a dip. went to a reef on hels mouth on low water. water was a little milky, vis ranging from 1.5-3m. didnt see one fish not even a crab.
so i got out, drove to pwllheli and tried near gimblet rock. did see a large shoal of baitfish but nothing else.
