Anyone got plans for weekend any thoughts?Who's going ? Dyllun are you home yet ?Anyone see the north coast?South look like concrete on web cams.

No matter how it is I will be diving this weekend. Almost two weeks dry and I need some salty water to rehydrate my gills. Lol

Morning! Any news? Webcams dont look too encouraging, though sure that wont stop Dario. Been in Ian?

Haven't made it over yet think I'm coming down with some thing nasty .As you said web cams don't look to good but stills from north side look promising Porth. Dinllaen /Nefyn look flat n good vis with off shore that where I was thinking of heading.

Hmmmm prob should have gone but chores got in the way. good thunderstorm here this eve though as front came through... Nice!

Guys stay home, it's not worth it. It's very bad with 0.5-1 meter visibility everywhere I have been.

Thanks Dario saved us 40 quid in fule and a day in time .The web cams /pictures looked promising I would of been down for weekend if I'd been feeling up to it! Housey things done.

These are the pics and web cams I was looking at .Todays well ,yesterday were good sea pictures of some where I was intrested in. They are random so could be of sheep sky tractors any where on the Llyn.Just happens to be north coast Porth Ore looking at surf and surfers I would think don't bother depends on vis and how kean you are to get wet.Heres a link I hope it works ok.http://www.llyn.info/dailyphotos/Theres some one in first pic bottom left corner probably fishing tho or taking photos!.The day before pictures of the sea look like good vis and of off shore wind conditions. Don`t know if you don't go!

Looks like I will try some where with green water!. Dyllun are you home yet?Have you got in anywhere?

Yeah im not keen on the new forum , its gone a bit facebook for my liking with alerts and things!
Just finished putting together my new gun , which was a Rob Allen Carbon 90 , but is now a Rob Mallen Carbon 90.
Really wasn't keen on the RA 'open' muzzle after using my Mako 70 with proper open muzzle , and also didn't like the handle of the RA it was to high at the back where the safety is on top, and I felt I didn't have a clear line of sight so I fitted a mako handle and trigger mech too to the carbon barrel, which also has the loading pad attached to it which I kind of wanted with the gun being bigger and possibly more of a pain to load. Some minor modification was needed to get everything lined up and had to drill new screw holes etc and I also used some epoxy as the diameters of barrel /insert were slightly different , so I hope I never want to change anything. I just hope the balance/ buoyancy is ok . I have marked a spot I can safely drill and put either lead or foam into a small chamber at the muzzle but hoping I wont need to.

Will hopefully let everyone know how it shoots/handles in next couple of weeks, wind permitting!

Crikey! That's some work there mate - really hope it works out for you! I wouldn't fancy drilling that lovely carbon barrel, especially that they're now an endangered species!

I personally love the RA handle with one massive exception - no loading butt! I can understand why you changed it.

I've used a 70 all year and have managed to ruin rib cartilage (which feels like a cracked rib for 6 weeks) and then the next session out, do something quite similar which gave me serious pain for another 3 weeks - I think chest loading without a loading butt is the cause - after spending 9 weeks this summer not being able to sleep on my front or laugh / cough / sneeze without pain - I will not be trying to chest load it again!

I've obviously got some type of weakness there - I think I'm going to switch to double 14mm bands for next season, hopefully reduce the loading pressure a bit.

Anyway, I hope the new gun set up works as well as it looks, let us know!

Cheers ! Yeah I know a lot of people would think why bother and its not going to make that much difference , there probably right but when you get only a few shots here and there on decent fish between commitments, actually finding fish and having them present a shot before I have to surface! . For me its worth it to be 110% happy with my setup.
That sounds rough , guess its quite easy to injure yourself in that way. I will have to take more care.I got some 20mm rubber recently with the thought of rigging a double wrap 7mm spear and having an alternative to single wrap and 16mm band , but its ridicuosly un stretchy ! no way im going to be able to load it even in a longer length. Yeah 14mm and stomach load could be the way to go for you.
I did come across this , as possible solution for RA handles http://flfreedivers.com/spearfishin...rob-allen-loading-butt-complete-cassette.html

Cheers for the link mate - that's pretty good upgrade.

Wouldn't recommend 20mm bands - I had them on my SEATEC Gabbiano 90 which was a cannon - it was horrible to load and not very accurate due to the recoil - I remember one day I missed 9 bass in a single session - it was loads better with a single 16mm. Power was crazy at first, before the bands got some stretch in them - it would pull really hard, even at the end of a double wrap! Goes to show power really isn't everything! I prefer a simple, short gun that's easy to get on the target.

I've been looking that some of the Italian guns with reverse trigger mechs - which puts the last spear notch is directly over the trigger - when I compared that to my RA, that's an extra 13cm of stretch! So an 80 would be more like a 90 - 95cm gun. I'm pretty much sold on that approach - especially in carbon prettiness ;)

I don't understand you guys, in Europe we make the best guns in the world and you buy things from USA and South Africa that are now copying what we used to do 20 year ago!!!!!!!

Now this makes sense. :) Reverse mechanism, rubber loading pad, open nozzles, strong and soft mechanism, ergonomic handle and more = Pathos guns. ;)

Looking at the weather I really can't see any point in going over to the coast tomorrow. As the weather's been so crap and windy over the last few weeks .? Any thoughts?

I am not going, looks awful.

Pathos are nice looking guns - I nearly brought a "Laser Open Carbon Pro" last year but couldn't get one smaller than 90cm so left it.
