You would probably just get a 4hp to plain a small inflatable with just you on board, but you might struggle fighting a strong tide . A slightly larger boat like a 310 will actually plain more easily ive heard. There are some decent 5hp two strokes on ebay at minute,
Yamaha 5 Hp outboard 2 stroke short shaft boat engine (model type= 5CMHS) | eBay

that is the same as my engine , awesomely light and good size integral fuel tank which a lot of the 4 strokes don't have. Or you could get a Tohatsu 9.8 weighing only 28kg which will fly even with 3 or 4 on board but they are hard to come by and expensive.

Dario did say there was nothing there but I thought he was hiding a good spot but don't thing he's was now may be other spots in that area will try n find out this year.it looked stunning Friday so clear .new coastal path gives great views and access .possible launch spot for small inflatable tender.think off the rocks is a local fishing spot.

Ahah Reverse technique. I say it is bad thinking you will go as you think I am hiding such a great spot. lol when it is good, I actually say it is good so you think it is crap and you'd never go. lol you guys are 007! lol

Ah the Master Jedi returns .Where are you ?have you a job and have you got any fish yet ?

Actually I am already in England at moment, although still fully based in Spain. Got a job offer in Ross and Wye and still considering some other options in Liverpool area, so my spearfishing future is still uncertain. rofl

Ive got (although selling it with the big boat....long story) a reasonable sized carib inflat with five piece fibreglass floor and a tohatsu 9.8 two stroke. Without a doubt, they are the best engine for size vs power available (or not). Basically they are an uprated 6 rather than a down rated 15, so significantly lighter than the competition and certainly the weapon of choice amongst long distance cruising boats.
you will struggle to plane with a 4 unless you are very light or have small boat, but with the amount we carry, it will be tricky with one, impossible with two. That said, id say you only really need that if you are heading over a mile or so or running around all day. Big (3m) inflatables are big heavy bits of kit. To get them back in the bag, you really need to pump the air out... A 12 v inflator makes for an easy life, also some wheels..... Poss consider one of the lightweight non inflatable types of boat, they are smaller lighter and also row better. Have you tried rowing an inflatable? thought not.
Consider also a hobie kayak, they are very quick and dont realy on arms to propel them. Look them up, ive got one but nowhere to put it! They are used for offshore fishing all over the us.
finally, dont skip the safety. Consider a flare or two in a plastic tub and a charged marine walkie talkie, might save your life, when engine throws its toys out.

Cant wait to play

Sure you don't want to sell the inflatable...?

I'd rather swim than ever own a kayak again!

Ah... Not tried a hobie one? ... You power using feet, much faster and doesnt do your arms in. that said, an outboard does them in even less.....!

Main trouble with my inflat is that it is just too much to handle. It was the tender to our big boat but I never had to put it in a car and move it around.... Its almost too heavy for two to carry. spose I could get a trailer etc but it just seems such a chore. depends on the plan I suppose... Short distances and you can use a tiny dink... Horses for courses n all that.
Perhaps Ill bring it up and leave it locally....... Not even sure it will fit in the car though.

Bloody true, I found a kayak nearly useless, loads of work for a little benefit. No worth it.

Completely agree buddy - too heavy and slow. If you want to go further than a kilometer, almost completely useless. You're so knackered from launching it and paddling that by the time you get to the dive spot, it's just not worth it.

I want to dive numerous spots per day, for that you need a boat!

Well, I had a pretty good trip out last night... I now have 2 small bass and 3 decent sized mackerel in my freezer. It was pretty warm out too!!

You could do a pay( loads )at a store and launch ( by tractor)for season in pwllheli but then your limited to one area .I like the idea of chooseing your spot on the day either side of Llyn/ Mon to make the most of vis and sea conditions /wind etc. Will pm you some where to store it possibly cheap.

Yes well done Manalive great news .There here at last if we can find them?

I didn't get in the water, they were on the clearance shelf at Tesco. The bass were well below MLS, but they were already bagged up before I got there.

Please tell me you're joking - I thought there was a ray of hope the season was underway! rofl
