New boat has finally arrived! It's a Quicksilver 340 Airdeck fitted with Avon launching wheels - a perfect match with the Mariner 15hp. The boat weighs 39kg and the engine only 34kg so it will be nice and easy to launch by myself.

I purchased a Bravo SuperTurbo 12 electric pump to inflate it but whoops... I didn't realise that there are two versions - a high pressure and a low pressure one... a normal rib would be fine with the low pressure verion as it pumps up to 4.5 PSI but for an airdeck you need the model that pumps up to 11.5 PSI. Guess which one I brought... ...so if anyone needs an electric pump, send me a PM!

Hopefully I'll get out on a maiden voyage in a couple of weeks!

Just remembered the sand mountain is still at pwllheli harbour mouth. dredging still on going, pumping into new silt settling lake.New Pile ings for sailing school in place .Did anyone get down over the last week?Anyone any where

Oh, the air deck, although high pressure, takes almost no air, so you could keep the pump and just finish it off by hand.... If you know what i mean......

Nice boat . The BPT 12 is a really good pump . Unlike the standard BP12 it does the first bit of low pressure air without using the piston , which it does a lot more quickly than if it was using the piston . And it then switches to the piston to achieve the higher pressure.
I will get some pictures of my setup when I get out in it.

Will, definitely get some pictures of your boat up! I'd love to see it. The Bombard 380 was the other boat I was thinking of - everyone says it's great - I did a ton of research and found that no-one had a bad thing to say about the Quicksilver - in the end I decided I could get a new Quicksilver for the price of a used Bombard..!

I made a typo earlier, I don't have a Bravo 12 pump, I have a Bravo Superturbo 12 - just not the high pressure one! The Bravo 12 is the cheaper slow pump I'll either get a Bravo Superturbo 12HP or the BPT 12 - not massively sure of the difference!

Yes I had heard good things about the quicksilver. looks nice and roomy inside with the flat floor. Bombard feels a bit narrow inside and its a V floor. I really like the mariner 15 too . Im starting to think I need a bit extra power than my 9.8. But it is gloriously light at 24kg. 1 up I will be fine , might struggle to plane with 2 and kit . Will see how it goes.

Also it might be worth 're badging' / 'de badging your 15 Bro. As anything over 10hp is full launch fee every launch whereas under 10 is like £20 for the year or something.

Thanks for the tip Will! I think I'm going to buy some plasti-dip...

I have to admit, I didn't love the V floor in my last boat, the flat floor in the QS was a big selling point - to be honest, I don't think any roll up inflatable is that roomy inside - the Bombard is as big as it gets! A 24kg engine sounds very nice - although it really depends how far you need to lug it - have you got launching wheels on your boat? If we ever meet up, you're more than welcome to try my 15 out on your boat for the day.

Yes got the original zodiac ones that seem quite good. Im just thinking of a combined weight thing on some of the steeper slips if on my own having to pull the boat up a steep wet slipway. I figured the boat/ engine and contents I want/need to take would come in at about 100kg . Thanks for the offer , I would be really keen for that. You might be best getting a separate cowling and hold onto your original for resale purposes. Wow that looks fantastic! It makes you realise just how small last years tender really was! Despite being the most beautiful and delicate boat figurehead of modern times, my face felt pretty raw after a necessary week of salt and wind lash caused by trying to get the europa on the plane!!

It's £25/year by post or £30 in person at slip beech or office .I just renewed mine on Sunday .

Very nice sib Broseidon. I myself just took the plunge and got my self a Seapro 430 HD, it's got the alloy floor as I will be using it for fishing also. Just waiting on my Johnson 30hp 2 stroke.

This is a heavy rig and not a one man operation, nearly died getting it out of the car. But I'll never be spearing alone in anyways. It's more like a flat packed rib from IKEA, haha. But I wanted something I could pull toys behind for the little one etc and hard deck makes fishing a hell of a lot more practical. I'll probably end up getting a small trailer for it for convenience.

Good luck with yours, my mate have a 340 air deck and it's very nice indeed.

North was crap where I looked on low yesterday and small swell .south was 3-4 foot and smashed in will strong s s/e cold wind.i didn't get in.going to look in a bit light n e wind blue sky changeable minute to minute .did get in fri eve on high missed my first bass of season !there here and around.thousands of bait fish and sand eels .surf may be good ?

Good choice Bro. I had a similar set-up. An Avon Rover 3.4 with a plywood deck and inflatable keel. With a Mariner 15 two stroke it was pretty rapid. It could (just) plane with 3 people and two sets of scuba kit, but with two spearos it would fly along.
Just be careful with the air deck and bass spines, straight into the fish box with 'em!

Worse this morning than yesterday winds easterly big 3-4"swell very choppy viz down ,on south,same as abersoch web cam.may back off after high and if wind goes northly!north side can only pick up with wind .my weekend catch and sea state.
