Hey shane its so bad tha you lost the fish coz of the gun. Did you shot from too far or hit belly??? Was it with Alluminum?

I never see that big sea bass around here.

I shot the bass from 1 meter but hit the spine. The fish managed to break free.

I was using my Apache 90 with 16mm bands and a 6.5mm shaft.

Bad luck I guess.

The Sea Bass was 10.15 kilos. Sorry I posted the weight on the Sunday that everything crashed and I did not realise it had dissapeared

Virginia Amberjack hunters

Here's the picture of the nice fish I mentined in an earlier post.

These two have been freediving less than a year and landed the Amberjacks, 50 and 78lbs, a few weeks ago off Virginia Beach with their 75cm Excaliburs. Not bad fish for 75cm guns, I was surprised myself.

The gun on the left of the pic does not look like a 75 to me?????

Well done to them. Shows what you can do on a good day if lucks on your side.

It's a tough crowd out there...

We have that kind of guys here too. Hunting big AJ with 75-86 guns:hmm

sea bass?

This is the fish I mentioned before that came right up to me. I think it a sea bass but I'd like your opinions. The photo was a Hail Mary - which means basically point and shoot without looking through the viewfinder and pray that it comes out. Water conditions were pretty turbulent and I've enhanced the image to get more detail. It seemed at least 60cm long and the fish was about 1.5 meters from me here.

Thats not a Sea Bass. That is called a Lirio or Anjova in Spanish. It looks like a Queenfish. Face of a mullet with the back end of a jack.
