...Bass Fishing on Shore and sea is a good one to read for info on the bass whether fishing for or spearing or just interest.
Thanks for the recommendation ADM. Found it: [ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/185223878X?ie=UTF8&tag=various02-21&linkCode=xm2&creativeASIN=185223878X]Bass Fishing: On Shore and Sea: Books: John Darling[/ame]
Coincidently, I was given a box of fishing books today consisting mainly of the huge, complete 6 volume set "The Art of Fishing" (not sure if I'll have room to keep this long term - so if anybody is interested, let me know). One of them is by the same chap that wrote the book you recommend,
"The Sea Angler's Guide to Britain and Ireland' - by John Darling. I was
surprised, horrified and saddened to discover from the book that some of my favourite areas,
Lulworth Cove & Weymouth Bay, are used to discharge
radioactive waste into the sea
[see Dorset 2007 thread for a fuller account].
I haven't finished looking through the other books but they include:

very slim, only 24 pages, half the size of the Len Jones booklet! Probably aimed at kids, very brief, simple with simple but attractive watercolour illustrations. If you needed to learn a few basics quickly or have a short attention span, this might be the book for you. I'll probably hang onto this one.

Coarse, game and sea angling." by Alan Wrangles[/ame] Looks like a lot of useful information & clear line drawings, albeit crammed into a small, cheap paperback format, the font is quite small but surprisingly clear enough for me to read even by these lousy low energy lights (grizzel, grizzel).
Others:

(Flyflicker? Anyone?)

Again, I can't keep all of these, so if any catch your interest let me know. The previous owner wants them used.
BTW I also have [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0752524976?ie=UTF8&tag=various02-21&linkCode=xm2&creativeASIN=0752524976"]"The Concise Encyclopedia of Popular Freshwater Tropical Fish" by John Dawes [/ame](all colour photos) - nice book if you are into this (I'm not).[Foxfish/Niaid perhaps?].
