I've had beautiful women come up and talk with me as I was getting ready for a dive. Unlike many other activities, being chatted up by a beautiful girl in this instance does not create a delay or change in direction. I am polite, even friendly - but I am also going diving: NOW
It is possible this is what the author of the article picked up on and, in order to preserve her own 'place in the universe', proceeded to spin. Freedivers as a group have an unusually intense passion for their art which sometimes overrides 'normal priorities'.

We do have some good freedivers though - William Trubridge, Ant Williams, and Niki Roderick(wish I could find a pic of her for this thread)
