The other parts of the country have their threads up for 2013 so I thought it's about time we had a Devon thread...

Happy New Year to all the Devon Spearos and here's hoping that by the end of the year this thread contains more than its fair share of stunning dive and catch reports.

Thanks Spiderman, you just beat me to it as started one a minute ago before seeing this - as you got there first I think we should use this one.
I'll see if my one can get removed so all can be kept on the same thread.
Happy New Year to you and everyone.

Cheers,

Dave.

Happy New Year All! Here's looking forward to a better season than last year. Would anyone be interested in another South Devon spearo meet this summer if the weather plays ball? Would be good to put faces to new names.

Count me in mate im up for that. Hook it up with a shore dive or a boat dive and we on to a winner.

Great plan. How about the bank holiday at the end of May like we did a few years ago?

Im up for that. If its close to Plymouth i will bring my boat along. It opens up a bigger area for the guys to dive.

Guys Happy New Year one and all

I need some advice please. I’m looking to get an Inflatable board for my kit. Won’t bother you with previous set ups.
Anyway I’ve trawled the Internet and come up with the following.
Can you guys give your experiences / views and any others out there that I may have missed. The two that stand out for me are the Beuchat (bit pricey if I’m honest) and the Okipa 2 (£76 shipped from Spain)

Lee

Part 2 as to many characters for one message.

Omer Clipper Float/Board £134 Anthony
Seac Sub Sea Mate Float Board £99 Anthony
Beuchat Guardian board £209/£199 Anthony or diving direct
Okipa light £40 Decathlon
Best hunter Okipa 2 £76 Inc p&p Scubastore Spain
Best hunter dive hunter £170 Inc p&p Scubastore Spain

Any views

Would be good to meet you all, so count me in too! HNY!

For anyone considering Torbay for a dive, a couple mates have reported an estimated 2-3 meters vis from walking along Paignton Harbour and another spot. Not gospel but good indication.
Planning first dip of the year on Monday afternoon.

Happy New Year all!
Would love to meet up for a dive again.

Lee, I have an Okpia. It is quite tough but a bit smaller than some of the others you mention. I am what you might call an athletic build (fat bloke) For the price I think it's a good buy. Works well for me.
I fixed an old rubber inner tube across it so I can throw it over my back with the guns attached. Great when walking down to the beach.

My first shinys of 2013.My season started today with 4 big mullet. Went out lure fishing for bass with Dennis(goingtothecoast). I had my dive gear in the boat so once the bass fishing went quiet i got in. No bass seen even though just before i got in we were catching them.
Big shoals of mullet seen but very shy and skittish. The vis wasnt up to much either. It had that milky look. Still 4 good sized mullet taken. Seen and missed a couple of big pollack.
Dennis didnt go much on the pissette on my new suit. Well it was more it made him feel a bit uneasy on my little boat!!

Thanks Scrumpy, get in there is still a few fish about.
Almost had my mask ripped off in that swell mate. Best make sure i put that thing away if i do a shore dive. Could get locked up walking up the beach like that.
