I just listed a GoPro HD Hero in the Buy/Sell section if anyone is interested.

(sorry to hijack thread)

Torquay dive this afternoon, in for best part of 2 hours but no silver fish seen. Time well spent though enjoying 3-4 meters vis. Tried coaxing a nice big brown crab out of his hole but couldn't tempt him to come out and become my supper. Sensible chap.

Part 2 as to many characters for one message.

Omer Clipper Float/Board £134 Anthony
Seac Sub Sea Mate Float Board £99 Anthony
Beuchat Guardian board £209/£199 Anthony or diving direct
Okipa light £40 Decathlon
Best hunter Okipa 2 £76 Inc p&p Scubastore Spain
Best hunter dive hunter £170 Inc p&p Scubastore Spain

Any views
Lee

Lee, talk to jerseymike on here, he and other jersey guys use the beauchat guardian, they seem to do well.
Personally i love my body board float...
Good luck.

All but decided to buy best hunter 2 as the difference in money will buy me a back up gun & for night dives + other bits bobs.

Thanks for all your responses.

Lee

Well so much for visibility! Headed down to Prawle today. When we got there, even a group of surfers had decided it was too windy! The whole East coast of Devon today was enshrouded in this rust-coloured water (below). A total washout!

Your dead right there thats the best looking tea i have seen for yonks thought the vis was crap up here its great compaared to that !All the best hope things calm down and vis improves.

I am not sure where you took those pics, but I am sure it is not Prawle ? as in Prawle Point ! I always keep an eye on web cams at certain coastal locations for a few days ahead ,settled water usually gives you a chance of good vis .

One was taken at Budleigh Salterton and the other was taken at Ladram Bay. We went to Prawle point first and ended up driving back up the East coast of Devon. According to the forecast the previous day, the winds should've been quite mild. Not so! I think we'll start checking webcams next time!

Hey, days are only getting longer now and I am really keen to start doing some more regular dives. I am only interested in freediving, but have no problem diving with spearos and I have no interest in giving away your fishing spots. I am really keen to get into the water and I know that so many people on this thread have lots of experience, so any advice would be greatly valued. Also, if anyone was interested in meeting once a week for a training session please comment on the "Plymouth Freediving Club" thread.Cheers.

The best webcam for the South Hams area for checking out the West facing coast is at The Cottage Hotel at Hope Cove . For Torbay there is one at Babbacombe which is facing East the two should give you a good idea of local sea conditions .

hi all,

belated happy new year to you all,

I am having a (sort of personal) clear out of some kit - got some new goodies coming this year with my name on :)

I will post it in the for sale section as well but thought i would mention it here as most of you are local :

Cressi Geronimo 95 pro (closed muzzle model) - had new bands line bungee last year had little use, you can convert this is open muzzle if preffered for about £10 - £80
Apnea legend black suit (L) - used once if memory serves me right! - £70
Cressi Gara Pro fins 8/9 - normal scuffs as you would expect, also damage to one of the "tips" where it rubbed on the floor after falling off my trolley at the airport. It has shamfered (sp!) about 1cm of plastic off the corner of the fin!! - £30

lets hope the weather this year is better than last...................

Cant be all that hard can it!

cheers all,

anthony

Anthony,
Does this mean you are giving up spearing?
I will call into the shop soon to catch up. Think I still need to pick up a weight vest. After Christmas I think I need an XXXXL.

Hi Dave - nope not at all,

Have a nice Cressi delivery of 101 boxes of stock arriving on Thursday - some of the new items have my name on them! :friday

Just clearing out the old to make way for some new goodies :)

Can anyone suggest some good webcams to look at the conditions of any site from anywhere that stretches from Exmouth round to Plymouth?

Cheers guys

Hi mate these are the ones I mainly use.

Torbay Surfing has a link to live / static cams from Exmouth to Plymouth. 13 cams in total not always the best but will give you an idea. Teignmouth is the only web cam I have ever come across that takes it's one still image often at night!!!

Loving the beach is Blackpool sands, bigbury, east portlemouth, Tolcarne, watergate bay.

Hope & anchor shows Hope cove.

Southsands shows Salcombe esturary.

Breakwater shows Brixham breakwater ( funnily enough) & beyond.

Babbacombe shows the pier area.

There may be more but these I find are enough for me, they allow me to study the state of the sea and work out where's divable. If your unsure post up here as guys will soon tell you where to head. Often the case as you'll know if easterly Exmouth to start point will be rough and no viz, Thurlestone side will be calm etc etc. I look over Teign esturary and drive looking out to Lyme bay on daily basis.

Always happy to help

lee
