South Devon 2013

It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Was in at Brixham yesterday. 2m viz when we got in but it seemed to get noticeably clearer a few hours later in the shallows. According to the computer, the water was 10°C - three hours was enough. Nothing in the way of fish during that time, the seals seemed to be catching them, though! Nice to finally get back into the sea all the same and grab a few scallops.

Scott - viz ? as looking to go Thursday in the bay mate.
Any joy?? PM or call me if you want at some point,

Babbacombe has a couple meters mate not sure about the Torquay side. I went past Preston on the train and thats starting to clear so I would say by Thursday you should have around 3 meters.

Cheers bud. Pretty shocked how good hopes nose looked this am from the top road.

Looking at weather forecast for the week ahead it looks like the wind is mostly westerly turning northerly which should leave our south devon shores undisturbed and give it a chance to clear , so it could be first time in for me this weekend !!! Terry...

Light south westerlies mate that would be a good spot to be on Thursday.
did you see Meadfoot at all? was thinking about a night dive down that way once the wife get home.

Terry we deserve some decent weather mate this season has been dragging its feet....

Meadfoot looked ok but only a quick check. Thatcher gut looked pretty clear with Beacon cove area ok possibly couple metres. If I get in I'll report back. Will meet up soon really fancy ore stone etc.
Lee

Cheers Lee. Once my van comes back from the garage and I finally get round to servicing the boat engine we can start hitting the Orestone!!

Thanks for the viz updates guys, keep them coming in planning a trip to drop my pot this pm as the next few days look ok, normal drop it bigbury way so ill report back viz if I make it out!

Evening chaps. Dived Meadfoot late afternoon today, vis was about 2m generally but better closer to shore. Didn't see any signs of life other than starfish, but was still a good dive as weather was lovely and was a welcome return for some vis!!

Lee, hope you get even better vis if you're able to get out on Thurs.

Got in the water near Paignton with the speargun for the first time this year yesterday evening. Viz was maybe 2.5-3m in the shallows and seemed murkier further out. I also saw zero fish but having been snorkelling all winter in the murk for the scallops, the clearer water was welcome. Seemed a wee bit warmer to me than it has been as well.

I agree, was warmer and more pleasant. My computer gave a reading of 9 degrees.

Hi All,

Have fished the river over the last few weeks and not a fish seen! Took the family for a drive tonight in the evening calm to see several hundred fish playing and tailing yards from the bank and i mean hundreds! Thought i was back in Florida watching tarpon. The fish are here, where are the usual suspects???? Crew, mount up.

Tribs

very excited
out

In the water water mate!! usual place for me, where have you been i can tell you it is cold 7c been in on sunday got 1 cuttlefish 2lb 1 big oyster and few sea coins

Hi all, got in last night for a very quick dip at wembury to drop my pot and viz was AWEFUL close in, but out to 4-5m further out!

Nothing seen at all on the reef but ill see what crawls into my pot !

In last night for a sunset dive in Torbay with Nick (Winky). Still cold at 8 degrees but some OK vis which was pushing 4 metres in places. Covered a fair bit of ground including acres of sand in the hope of finding a flattie but it was very quiet on the fish front. In the end the only fish shot was this long spined sea scorpion (f 5.6, 1/500, ISO 80)
