In for a quickie last night. 3 bass taken, biggest near 5lb which is a new PB for me :thankyou(yeah I know and only half way to double figures but I'm looking forward to working my way up :D) . Not much else about other than a few ECs and a lone little mullet.

As for rubber duckie - what can I say mate? :hmm

Here you go guys something a little different than you normally see on here and in our waters. Taken on a shore dive in Cornwall during the day.

Its a Almaco Jack. I showed you a pic yesterday didn't I? It was from last week. Bored laid up with a bad back so thought I would post it.

Nice one nick! Fantastic catch in our waters. Looks like this year is certainly throwing up some exotics.

It was a shore dive with a friend who is new to the sport In this country. I pointed out the spots for him in close and moved off shore a bit to look for plaice. I couldn't resist a jumbo mullet on my swim out. I then had a plaice before I even left the inshore ground. While stringing him a 6lb size salmon swam by me. Out on the sand my first fish was a small brill then a plaice. It was when I was stringing the plaice on my float I noticed a shoal of bass had come in and surrounded me. In amongst them I could pick out the shape of a Jack,i know the shape having had one a couple of years ago. I dived slowly down into the shoal but they spooked. I carried on to the bottom at about 9m and hid in the only bit of kelp out on the sand. A few croaks and back in the shoal came minus the jack. Not worried about taking a bass I waited a bit longer. The jack came in right at the end of my breath hold. The bass spooked again when I slowly moved the gun but the Jack stayed long enough to pay a visit to my stringer. Its the best time of year now for big fish and exotics to turn up. What NEXT!!

Great report Shiny and great fish. Always a pleasure to read.

My dive offered nothing of comparable interest so I'll shut up.

Missed your reports shiny also your video clips any in the making? They get me through the winter.

No Vids this year Lee. I haven't dived much due to a new job. I never seem to have time to dive like I used to. A new camera next season is on the cards. My old camera is the size of a brick. It works well when filming on my own. The large housing holds a lot of air, which balances the gun evenly for self filming.
I will have a vid but its going to be from the camera fitted to my centre console on my boat while I lure fish for bass.
I took Mirror out with me Wednesday. Terry get your dive report up.

Sure it will be good mate, Just nice to see you posting. Yeah come on tel lets here some good news on your dive. Terry might need to chat about chainsaw, try and catch you over weekend for a catch up

I had the honour and privilege of going out on Shiny's boat the other day , to understand a bit more about boats , and spearfishing , I am not sure where we went as I put my wetsuit top on back to front !!! ( so no locations !) In about half an hour we covered a distance that would of taken me all day to paddle in my Kayak ! We dived at a few spots Shiny saying Bass and Plaice here boy ! He was right as well ! In total it turns out between us about 10 kg's of fish were caught - and I have to admit 9 were his !!! It was impressive to see a top Spearo at work , not something many get to see ( well I do not think spearfishing is ever destined to be a spectator sport !) his work rate was impressive to watch from the comfort of his boat whilst eating my peanut butter sandwiches , occasionally having fish lobbed at me from the water !!! One thing I learned of note was that fancy gear , long bottom times , and deep dives do not mean more fish , but knowledge of spots and fish , good eyesight , and EFFORT is rewarded !! Thanks for that Shiny ... ( FOXFISH;;; you stated above that Shiny is a fish magnet ... well so am I ... just the wrong polarity !! ) Terry..

Yes well I would love to dive with the shinny one & I would love to do a bit of wood work with you.... Guernsey fish in next year?

Great write up Terry - what an experience with the man himself.
Inspiring stuff and encouraging - I don't have any fancy gear!! Or long bottom times. Or good spots. Oh shit - what do I have?!! Ha.
Nice one guys.
D.
