This will be of interest to a few of you folk, the life and finds of a plymouth diver:

Nipped in with rubber duckie yesterday evening. Wind was starting to get up and the spring tide made things interesting to say the least. Very glad to have the kayaks with us...

Stumbled on to a 2lb bass early on which actually took a piece of weed directly off the tip of my spear (must get one of those purpose made thingies to stick on). Temptation resisted, I swam on hoping to be rewarded for leaving this fish. Was beginning to regret it, but eventually found another much bigger bass which after a brief tango was soon on the spear and in the kayak :D. Added to this with a nice fat mullet which obligingly let me shoot him a second time having missed at 3ft with the first shot , ta muchly monsieur muzza :). A second smaller bass sitting in the weed on the swim back to the beach, twack :D.

Lets hope the good weather holds for another few weeks at least.

HI All.
In today with North1. F all seen and got to the point where i'd overdosed on swallowed mucus and earwax and headed in. North1 headed out and found mullet and a plump lobby. getting old, I am. Sorry state!!!!
Vis was crap and tide massive.
Tribs
out

Big tide at teignmouth, land slip at ness beach now nicely colouring the sea and with the waves coming over sea wall, not much chance of a dive close to home.
So, anyone been in slapton way sheltered from NW winds picking up tomorrow but hoping to find some viz.

Evening all,

While out in Teignmouth on Saturday morning, I found a spear. It looks like one from a pneumatic gun, as it has a line/handle attached...the owner is welcome to it back if they read this and want it. Just let me know...

Morning folks.

Seeing a lot of posts on here on night diving and I must confess it slightly scares the living *&@&$ out of me! Yet, I am dead keen to give it a go. If any of you have some pointers or fancy showing a night newbie the ropes it will be greatly appreciated.
Decided to start my night diving venture by acquiring a decent flash light so going to the shops over lunch. I must confess, the temptation to buy 360 surround light connected to a car battery strapped to my back is quite big...I want to see what is lurking in the dark...so, flashlight tips will be much appreciated too.

Have a good one.

Main torch consider...
Xtar D06 LED Diving Torch Kit

Backup torch either a cheap Lidl one if there are any kicking about or something like this...

People often overlook having a backup.

Thanks for the mention of the backup torch....best tip I have had so far. Not something I would have thought about until my batteries ran out.

Hey, read a while ago but can't find the original message that someone ended up having a dive around maenporth, has anyone else had a trip around their? I wanted to know wether you went around to the left and visited the wreck or went right around the coast? Any response is appreciated.
Cheers

I dived yesterday evening just before dusk between start point and prawle point vis only around 2 metres, few skittish pollack about but not much else. Reckon start bay would have had slightly better vis

Intentions were last night to try a couple of spots near to start point but once in the car couldn't face the drive.
Stayed local not expecting much viz after land slip on ness beach was washed out after high tides and waves coming over sea wall on Monday, anyway met with viz ranging from 0 to 3m but dirty. Worked the shallows before a couple deeper dives max 4m due to lack of viz, followed a couple of bass at depth and both taken. Few more added after 2 hours decided to call it a day, was going to try over towards babbacombe but hard to motivate myself with poor viz. Not weighed but nothing of size guess biggest 3+. Nice head shots on all fish 2 stoned.
Anyway tea sorted must be having ok season as kids said this am 'what bass again'

ha! Well done. I'll be honest, was looking forward to hearing how you got on near the point ;)

Will get down where we discussed might check forcast for rest of week.

Good work Lee, you're putting in the hours and feeding the family well, great stuff.

Had a quickish Torquay dive just after low tide, New area but close to others I've dived. Vis not good from surface but gave way to 2ish meters below water. Pleased with area, came away with a bass and a mullet. Neither huge but certainly big enough and welcome meals.

Doing first South Hams dive in several months after work tomorrow and will hopefully have a bit more time to hunt:)

Good one. Can you let me know viz state please Mate. I might go Friday night but rain due then strong SW winds on their way

Sorry Lee, change of plan on the way into work this morning with the guys am spearing with later - most likely to be doing a Torbay dive now. Will post how it goes.

I'm going out tonight. First night dive. I'll let you know where I end up and if it was any good!
