I see you have (almost) mastered the infamous portland pose ..tuck that elbow in behind the fish to completely mask your arm.
Nice fish!

Wasn't me!

I just got back from a week in Portland, so was trying to channel it!
Was kicking myself for not taking my spearfishing stuff, looked so clear when I walked out to the Bill on Friday.

I'll get better with practice but I blame the photographer...

Well, what a weekend. Sun, great viz and lobsters galore!
Saturday dive was out to an offshore reef looking for Pollock. We could see the bottom 14m down, but the viz got a bit milky when tbe tide turned. There were no Pollock, but Rowan got a bass. On the way in, I found a lobster and a crab, then lost Ro. He arrived back at the entry point 10min later after finding a lobster in 3ft of water. We then roasted walking back up the cliff in the sunshine.

Sunday morning saw us at another mark. Viz was just as good, but the fish were a bit sparse. Alix got a bass, and I got another lobster. All good training for the Guernsey Meet in six weeks!

thanks Dave.
If on your way home you see sea state close to your shores? could you let me know mate. Much prefer dive close to home
cheers
lee
Sorry Lee I am now up in Hereford. Back in Devon later in week so I will be checking the viz and hoping to get in.

no worries mate. got in the same night but conditions had changed. Bay has some viz. Looking like South Hams adventure tonight.

Vis in S hams is great , some strangely white patches but mostly 5-10 metres and I can clearly see that there are NO fish so took home 4 decent spider crabs and 1 brown crab today , nice and calm for the Bombard today , met another Spearo and he had no fish either . Maybe your night dive will produce something Lee , good luck !

Start Bay is not so good, just been in for a dusk dive and was milky and full of debris, headed round the south of start point and was better but still no fish...! Be interesting to see how Lee gets on

Not good! 3 hour dive produced.
3 bass, 1 mullet but nothing of size. Good mullet and a bass about 5lb but couldn't turn in the murky, yes murky water.
Now 1am so hard to distinguish any landslide or work currently going on along the beach( louis shield end ) lots of what seemed sediment running into the water, to the point of absoulte zero viz. over the reef was 3-4 m but very murky here. Had looked at meadfoot on the way into work and that didn't seem to bad. To far to go for not great conditions after a late shift. But a least we have tea tonight.

I had a quick dive at Thurlstone yesterday, i was with the wife and kids son only had an hour in the water. Vis was great (about 14:00) so perhapa thad had been a landslide (i noticed a big overhang above the caves). Came across 3 bass on the outer reef but they scarpered before I even got near. Only saw a pair of mullet after that and again they shot off before I could even point a gun at them.

Lee , I came across a patch of white cloudy sediment of some sort in this area also , it was only on the surface and in a small area ,I think it could just be because the tides are quite big at the moment and the sea is reaching higher up the rocks and cliffs than normal washing off finer particles a bit like dust .... or spider crab sperm ha ha ! ... good on you for getting some fish though !

The water was looking a bit milky this evening, but only in the top two meters. Anything below that, the viz was pretty clear, about 10m or so. We fished a local rock pinnacle on the flood tide, just as the sun was going down. We took three decent pollock, then it got a bit too dark to hunt, and the tide was running. There were no bass or mullet seen. We're off to another spot tomorrow afternoon to try and bag some plaice.

Was beautiful down at Bantham last night great vis and loads of pollock but no silvers. Did see a ray in the bay swim gracefully past

Any one able to give a vis report for Torbay please? I'll be there with work this afternoon and have the evening free while my colleagues are watching football so will hopefully be in for a dive

I suppose you are becoming a bit fed up of dining on lobster then !!
Ive taken crab sandwiches to work for the past three days, I've had two lobster salads, a thermidor, and today, I have a lobster baguette for lunch. I'm happy to see the bowl empty.

Sorry yes should have said after vis reports! It seemed like someone suggested the vis at Thurlestone went down to nil a few days ago which is why I am a bit worried.
