South Devon 2014

Yeah, fairly local. South Hams. There was a bit of surface chop beginning, but no ground swell.

Just got back from a great deep reef dive. Viz was very good, 8m vertical and 10m horizontal. We fished the rising tide, getting out as the weather turned. Only problem was that there were no fish. Pete got a stinking mullet on the way back in, but that was it, apart from the ubiquitous baby Pollock. Comfortably managed a 3+min breath hold, but nothing big appeared.View attachment 38979

Im not sure "Stinking" is an appropriate description, i would go for "Culinaryly Challenged" but after im finished it will be AWESOME!

Was the first time i have been out in almost a year, was really good apart from my pussy breath holds.

not far away from The Great Mew Stone is it good viz there or better to move behind plymouth more to cornwall site?

Would Cornwall side of the Plymouth sound be more open to the easterlies last night?

hi speerolee If you did find good viz could you tell which site better to go for viz did you hit devon or it was between pool and portland ?
because last night was not very quiet. I did't go. I m thinking about tonight 3-4 am to start if any body wants to go with me let me know 07723748571 ,I live in wookey is not very close .
thats why I don't want to get diving in the muddy water or should I go in plymouth area my spotnot far from there

Crossed the border to Kernow. Viz 3 m @ best. Few silvers seen of good size but I didn't manage any. My mate hit two of them aprox 4-5 lb. big sole and a slimy thorny for me from some deep shingle banks. I killed the ray before I cut the tail off. Worth the drive I supposeView attachment 38991 couldn't fit any more kit in the car if I tried !

Anyone go any viz reports guys, just finished nights so only seen teignmouth which is choppy. Bay looked grey on the way into work last night. Exmouth to bigbury, possibly hope cove but wanted somewhere more open
Cheers

in @ east devon this morning vis 2-4 at worst, bass and mullet taken well worth getting in. forgot my gloves made it hard dispatching

Reef dive outside Plymouth this morning. 3-4m viz, and the water is quite silty.

Dive just outside of Plymouth this evening, bit of swell and 3 - 4 meters vis. No silvers seen so ditched the gun a picked up the camera for the first time having borrowed a cheap one. To be honest most of what I took was shit but nice to do something different in the absence of fish. Took a few films too , nothing worth sharing with the world.
