Ahhh right! I'm not that local... down in Cornwall - Fowey to be exact. I have an elios too, but went for the nylon out... i though i would end up ripping the smoothskin outer on the rocks in about a week!!

Huw.

just wondering neale, our all them fish from a comp or just a day cause thats alot of fish to eat,

Lots of places such as the castle at the harbour mouth. Polridmouth bay near the gribben, the rocks anywhere between Fowey harbour and the Gribben. Also there is a bay very close to cannis rock just under the gribben. Also Lantic bay every now and again.

What about you??

Huw.

Sorry, my mistake.

Perhaps i'll meet you and your dad out and about. It is obviously a small world.

Tribs

Out

not to judge mental neale but its always better to have fresh fish then to spear alot in 1 go,

wow, i thought it was all about the best catch of the day eg bass and so on not apon the amount taken, i never take more then 4 a day there times when i can pull of an easy shot and get more then i need but prefer to go for the ones i sneak up on in "stealth mode" per say, the ones ive worked to catch.

I'm glad we no longer have competitions in Ireland. The legal bag limit here is 2 bass. In my humble opinion that's quite enough per session.

As long as it all gets eaten, its fine by me. Sometimes i have the lust for blood and rain death upon everything thats shiny and grey in front of me:t. But i allways make sure it gets eaten by myself, friends and family.

If it aint wasted, its all gravy!

Hey guys let's not get all political on this thread :head

The idea of a forum like this is so that we can share ideas and all shoot more fish.

Just happens that one or two members are a whole load better at it than the rest of us rofl

Regardless of opinion it would be hard to deny how skillful some of these guys are.

I have nothing against comps for the simple reason that there are not that many in the UK.

I think if spearfishing was a huge sport over here and big comps were held every weekend then maybe it will dent the fish population. But im 101% sure that fishing (rod and line) comps have a much bigger impact on our fish then spearfishing ever will do.

I know it sounds corny but I sort of look up to these guys and the skill they have to be able to pull off the comps.

Neale don't apologize for you and your father having fantastic spearo skills.I dived in the 2006 National Spearfishing Events @ Portland and Osmington when your father was present. He caught fish on both days and i did not even though i live 10 minutes away from osmington and grew up spearing on Portland.

I only wish i had half of your abilities.....keep it up..:king

What I said earlier about competitions was personal opinion and not meant as criticism of Pete Crawford or Neale. I regularly read posts on the BSA website and have a great deal of respect for the skills of competition spearos, and especially for Pete Crawford. What people do with regard to bag limit, competition etc. in South Devon is certainly none of my business but I'll continue to be sparing with fish in my own areas. On Wednesday September 12th, when I shot bass of 8lbs and 9.3lbs I passed many other bass, maybe 20 or 30, which I didn't shoot at. If I hadn't spotted the 9.3, I would have gone home happy with one fish.
Good luck and straight shooting to Pete and Neale.
