Hi

Im looking to buy a rib to go spearfishing in around torbay, and would be very gratefull for any advice.

as im on a tight budget it would probably need to be second hand.

I dont have a driveway or tow hitch so its got to fit in my car:head

it needs to be easy for 1 person to setup and launch as my dive buddy is not always available

engine size I would of thought 2.5 to 4hp max

Ive got an ocean kayak scramble xt and as much as I enjoy it I find it restricts me to a small area and I think a rib would be a lot more fun:) so will probably sell that to put towards the rib

hey scott

i had a honda 2.7m inflatable with 8hp but that was too small with 2 spearos and kit so i upgraded to a 3.5m with 20hp very quick with 2-4 spearos but it doesnt like the ruff stuff! there good little boats but blowing up and packing up is a bit of a pain in arse!

Wow Foxfish!!!! you do like to live on the wild side:t

i like the idea of a rib as you can just deflate it and throw ( place gently and with care) into the back of the car .

Ive seen tenders 2.6 meters long brand new for £299 but not sure if that would fit me,a buddy and all our gear or just me and my gear for that matterrofl

Scottie just read ur post .
Was the 2.6 not even an option or doable

Its a ncie boat Foxfish but I fell out my chair when I saw the price :D

Im definitley a spearo on a budget £400 for the rib and engine would be a dream come true. gps and fish finder I already have along with fish boxes, fishing rods, anchor, life jacket, rope etc.....

I check ebay everyday on the hope a little rib will pop up but no luck yet.

I love my Zodiac 3.4m fastroller. Can be rolled up or trailed and with an electric pump is pretty quick to inflate.

If we can coordinate time off you are welcome to hitch a lift in it sometime Scott :)

Hey Scott,
I bought two this summer and have had the best time ever on them! The first was a zodiac 310 rib with a 5hp engine, the boat deflates and rolls up into the rib and then zips inside a bag. The bag goes on a roof rack or van. The boat would plain nicely with just my girlfriend and I but not with any more weight. I also found the rib too heavy and awkward to move around on my own.The 5hp engine weighed 17k i think.
I then traded the boat and engine in for a zodiac cadet 340 (larger but lighter with removable boards). The boat rolls up into a bag that will go inthe back of a car. The cadet is perfect for me, i love it! I would recommend you have a look at the cadet. I went for a 18hp engine and it is superb. The boat flys four up with all my fishing and camping gear. I had wheels fitted on the back of the boat so dispite it being a heavier overall package I can launch and recover alone! I love it!!!

Spiderman that sounds great and I might just take you up on that.

daveduvet that sounds like something worth looking into and the wheels sound like it would cut out a lot of hassle thanks for the tips!!

Most of the time Dave as my dive buddy works night shift and is not always available.

I do tend to dive alone as theres never any time limits ( very very very understanding girlfriend) so the rib would have to be fairly easy to setup but also bigger enough for 2 and the gear

Now that is nice. A little over my budget but looks perfect and a good size. Thanks Dave:) Now ive just gotta sell the yak.
