I dont see how someones Job has anything to do with anything, If I was shiny1 Id have told you it was none of your business. It wouldnt matter if shiny didnt work; at the end of the day he is obviously a damn good spearo. Like he said if you were in the water rather than playing football you would probably have more fish under your belt. But thats your decision, its up to you what you prioritise. Obviously Shiny1 prioritses his spearing!

dived the slack tide today. found a nice spot with tfree parking and the beach only 5 minutes walk away HAPPY DAYS !!!!!

very little current and good viz 8 meters in places, could see the bottom of the reef from the surface. bagged a 3lb bass. saw a big shoal of small mullet and bass which swam around me for a few minutes before swiiming off,,,,, wheres the camera when you need it hey. Dive in the morning on the high tide before the weather turns

yeah its good apart from when i broke down ha ha ha. I left the choke out and flooded the engine.

I launch from teimouth or paighton, refuse to pay torquay prices £13.50.

Taking the piss at that price:rcard saw a guy out of one today, man those things have some speed. Do they guzzle fuel? how many miles to the tank?

hahah yeah they do fly its great fun. It depends how fast you go but its cheapish to run, normaly use just over 10 pounds in fuel when i go out.

Need to rig it up better to hold guns and fins though.

Hi everyone

I went out with Shiny1 yesterday. We had a good day with a mixed bag of bass, mullet and a plaice. He's beginning to get the hang of it now but he still has a lot to learn. Whilst I was mooching around I spotted a lost spear, I couldn't keep it with me so I threw it up on to the rocks. Anyone lost a spear there recently? Thinking about nipping out and having a go with the fishing rod for a couple hours this afternoon. Tight lines.

Good effort!!!!! you dont say where you found the spear though :head:)

Hi Scott,
He found the spear on the east side of Tallin bay,it was just starting to rust and it was a bit bent.

Hi Shiny,

Is Tallin Bay a code name as my Internet searches turn up squat? Is it a take on Talland?

Happy spearing and thanks for the PM about the kit.

Some nice fish you got there Bish, you still doing all yer martial arts and stuff.I know you from when you worked in the yard,i was in the diving section.

Hi all,

Had a great little dive out East of Teignmouth on Saturday. 8m vis, 13/14degC, medium current to swim against, still plenty of fish around. Unfortunately clutch on car broke on the way down so I couldn't stay in the water too long as I wanted to get back to Bristol in daylight. Long and short of it is lots of good size Mullet around - I took 3, had one tear off. One John Dory - small but big enough for a one meal (I love them,) and a 5lb Bass. Other Bass about the same size approached me from behind but I couldn't get a bead on them. Very nice diving - but too much boat traffic which got a bit scary with the surface chop - at least 6 boats in the water approx 100m away from where I was diving - the word was out!!

If things carry on the way they are going this year we will still be fishing for another month yet...

Lovely catch Shiny1.

Matt - I agree about the launching fees. Teignmouth has got very good launching - pretty much at all states of tide - for free!!

Good fishin Greenhorn.

I'm glad you are giving Shinny1 someone to look up too rofl

I'm gutted I didn't get in saturday, fingers crossed things will calm down.

Cheers HSF

I'm still doing the TKD RS20 but I do miss the crack with the lads in the yard, although it's apparently gone now. I'm loving the spearing though and I have known the Shiny1 since we were kids. Devonport boys. He's obviously pointing me in all the right directions with what gear to use and when to go etc.

Hi HSF

with a bit of luck and a break in the weather, hopefully we'll all get to post more write ups and pics of our bounty. Not sure there is much chance this week, I was hoping to get in somewhere on Wednesday. Fingers crossed.

Dave,
I read through the thread you posted the link to. Wow, quite a debate. I am afraid I don't own either of the suits you refer to. However, I would say that past experience is probably the best indication. So if you have used a lined suit and found it warm enough, then go with it again. I own open cell and lined and I feel the lined suit is warmer and easier to get on.
I can recomend the cressi sub suits [really tough]that have the easy glide lining - it is a silver coloured lining inside the suit. It is like an open cell but you don't need to use soapy water.

Tribs uses ellios and I think he seems to be warm enough. He has had problems with ripping the knees etc though.

In the end it will be down to what's best for you.

Good luck in choosing a new suit.
Let us know what you go for.

Thanks mate. Yes at last that thread has taken off and some interesting answers and opinions. I had a cressi suit exactly as you described and it was a good one. I liked the lining. However I think MTM is the way to go so as cressi don't do that I am looking at Elios and Diveskin.

Anyone help me out here http://forums.deeperblue.com/wetsuits/80555-question-about-lined-suits.html . Looking for UK people with experience of Elios/Diveskin.

Dave

Hi Dave

As North1 says, i wear a 5mm MTM ELIOS and probably will never be tempted away. Always warm, sometimes too warm, and very manoeuverable. I was in tonight until the light went in a mix of fresh river water and saline sea water. Even in the chilled river water no problems at all. I intend to stay in as long as possible up to Christmas and more. I know others are finding it cooler already but the Elios sticks to the skin like glue and is very snug. I used to wear a surf wetsuit and get cold instantly but now, sometimes I will pull the hood out to let water in to lower the temp in the suit and i think it livens the mind.
I have a MTM Camo 5MM neo outer s/skin inner and paid no where near £225 for it. Fits like a glove.

Point of note, our reef where we mostly spear is often turbulant and my suit takes planty of abuse. Only the knees have started to go and they get hammered constantly, the jacket looks like new apart from the flip flop i've glued to it as a pad. My 2p's worth for you

Had a shore dive today with Shiny1. Viz was good and we had a mixed bag. Looks like the weather is against us for a while but hopefully we'll all get the chance to have a go again soon.
