Cheers,

I think my friends point is that the rubber may compress and alter its performance in deepwater. If anyone has tried it please let me know.

I will PM old man dave - thanks foxfish!

Old Man Dave,

Thanks for remembering my ear! It was a horribly sticky affair that kept me dry for two months last summer and depressed me a bit to be honest! But it healed up well in the end and I was able to dive again in early September. It taught me a valuable lesson though, not to dive too soon after a cold! My first dive after the incident was bliss as you can imagine! It was just as the sun was going down and it yielded a 6lb fish that I later discovered was a species that I perhaps should have not speared! Hey ho - I'm not a religious man but thought it must have been god’s way of making things up to me! - Bloody delicious it was too!
Thanks for helping me with my wet suit question - the threads told me what I needed to know.

Take it easy!!

He, he , he , daveduvet did you spear one of those " newspaper " fish ? You know the ones the fishing boat guys take home in newspaper so no one can see what they are .

hey guys went out with JamesT friday night for a look around paignton pier got there at high tide just as it was gettin dark viz was ok 2-3m didnt see much lots of small crabs running around james seen a few small flaties and a cuttlefish that was about it! nice to get the hair wet!

Hi Dave

How long should you have left it . Ive had a cold for a week now and althought I feel better I dont want to take a chance .

The worst thing is Meadfoot has been looking very tempting but Ive had to stay dry.

Scottie3030 The pier can be good early in the morning on a high tide as the mullet are about during summer and Ive seen a few flatties about. Theres Mullet to be had around Livermead in the summer but the speed boat zooming around can be a big problem. I often dive there in summer when the traffic becomes bad as its not to far from where I live.

Has anyone dived alon the London Arch? aparrently there are wrecks around that area. and a place called the RIDGE. Its seems the bay has a few wrecks and I know they can be magnets for fish.

an idea I have been playing around with in my head for a few months now is wreck and reef fishing boats. Has anyone ever thought of hiring one out and spearfishing off them. I would think if enough people chipped in it wouldnt be that expensive and the amount of spots you could cover in one day would be amazing all you need are a few spots of around 20 to 30 feet deep and you onto a winner.

Hi Scott

I regularly ride on the charter boats from Exmouth as I am quite friendly with M Baker who runs Rose-Ann. Boats cost upwards of £400 normally for the day (£40 - 10 anglers) you would have to get a small set of tides perhaps and or go mid week to get it cheaper I would have thought. They might charge less as they are burning less diesel but not everso sure.

Regards

Ps I have begun to Spear from my own 16ft boat between Sidmouth and Budleigh. Scallops, crab and mullet so far! You are welcome to join us sometime in the warmer months if you wish.

Well done Scott! :friday

A mullet in March! I don't normally see them until the summer.

Now I'm really missing being in the water. Should be back in a couple of weeks though

Dived Friday afternoon in Brixham, 1 meter viz and a big swell made it uncomfy at times but I still managed to collect a dozen scallops.saw a few brown crabs but left them as they were not on the menu.

Just checked the webcams now and babbacombe looks very promising so might sneack out the back boor while the girlfriends still in bed and head on down there.

Hi all,

Been to Budleigh and Beer today as weather is amazing but the sea is still way too murky to dive up here.

Hope somewhere has managed to get in, with a bit more chance.
Been to Babbacombe Scott?
