Yep dived yesterday and today about the same point of tide. Loads of bass everywhere and lots of taking size. Funnily after an hour or so they all just disappeared. They didnt seem bothered about me at all though.

Took three yesterday and three today.

The smallest was 40cm.

I had no float or flag on show, I dragged a mate along who was in a pair of shorts (though he did have a 3mm pair of gloves) I didn't inform the coastguard, who were watching me from their base that I walked past, and I was fishing in the shipping lane. And apparently I should have swam back when my frozen mate swam back to make sure he was OK. He couldn't find the key to my car even though I explained where it was, so he was really cold by the time I got out. That's when the welcoming party QUITE RIGHTLY gave me a grilling, which I took on the chin and rightly so. I'm going to be more thoughtfull from now on. I didn't like the fact the coastguard got called out as there could have been some one somewhere in real need eh.

May have to stick to plugging for bass eh mate.

If it’s a lesson learnt then all is well, your mate will eventually warm back up and when his teeth stop chattering he’ll probably give you a bo*****ing as well.rofl
As it was the coastguard wasn’t needed elsewhere, so the only harm done was a bit of a dent in your pride.:blackeye
You carry on with the spearing mate and sod the plugging rod.:):)

I took the boat out today with Tong and Rowan. We left the slip at 10am and got back at 6pm, so i'm a bit tired now. We had a good haul from a few locations. Three bass between 4 & 5lb, mullet to 5lb and pollock to 6lb. Water was really clear and warm, and no wind. We got a few pollock to start, then started to see the bass.
I was in a favourte spot in the weed and saw something big on the edge of the viz at about 4m down. I mean really big. I thought, "That really can't be a bass? To my amazement it was. The biggest i've ever seen! To say it was 20lb would be about right. It never came close, just circled me out of range, with its wingman, whch was about 12lb. It was an awesome sight, then with a crack of its tail, it was gone. Amazing.

On the way back, we passed a speedboat being towed in. It looked low in the water. We came up to the slip, and a few minutes later it was towed into the marina, just off the slip and cast off. Almost immediatly it sank by the stern and capsized. We swam out to it, and it had a head size hole on the hull. When we finished laughing we helped turn it back over and pull it in. Seems he ran aground on a well charted reef, at a speed which he wouldn't admit to. Must of been pretty fast as he face planted the steering wheel (not pretty).
It wasn't even his boat, it was his friends, who came to retrive it , and found it upside down on the sliprofl
It then transpires that another guy was in the boat, who got left on Drakes Island while the boat was sinking. He was there for a while, as no-one saw fit to call the coastguard or the river police to get him. They had no radio or phone on the boat. They then broke the trailer trying to haul out a sunk boat.
And these are the people who are out on the water with us!:head

Some of the reefs i kayak out to off shore, come to within 1m of the surface. I am always suprised at how many boats i see buzzing around totally unaware. Looks like trelawny found someone who may just start to be a little more aware now! Did he manage to drive away They say things come in 3's. Boat, trailer,.......car on the way home maybe???rofl

Hey all,

Sounds like the action is hotting up! As Dave North1 stated we went out and not to a very good start. Pushed the boat in all going well, we get to the first spot and Dave realises he's forgotten half his wetsuit and my Omer ICE do their usual
"I'll think i'll snap in half" trick GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
Still, Dave's lovely wife dropped down the jacket and spare fins and we headed off first spot great, Dave down and a fresh mullet first dive, me - searing pain above my right eye at about 1m depth. It honestly felt like a screwdriver was boring into my face. Sinuses was my guess and wouldn't clear all day even after shovelling shed loads of Sudafed. Still managed a good bass and two mullet while Dave filled his freezer with mullet.

I picked up a lost pot as a bonus.

tribs

out

PS Anthony at V sports i'll have to bring the fins back down again for a refit, its the other blade this time.

Went out with Shiny1 yday in his formula 1 boat...very quick he's an adrenalin junkie. We had a good long day. I cant help taking the mullet as they are good eating, I also had a 5lb bass and a John Dory.

The day seemed to go without a greenhorn moment BUT when we got back to the harbour and started getting changed I couldn't find my trousers, which I was sure i'd left in the car!!!! I hadn't put them on the boat and they were not in the shed Shiny has. I rang the missus to start cancelling the business and personal cards and was thinking about the cash someone would be spending when I moved the big tub I keep my gear in and they were underneath. It was dark by the time we were changing and the trousers were dark also. Releif.

Shiny had fish but I'll leave it to him to tell you all.
