Hi there, im a student in Plymouth and i recently bought a spear gun and i went for my first dive today to bigbury. awesome time. except i did not manage to see any fish let alone catch one ahah. couldn't see the trigger of my gun let alone the end of the spear. i cant wait to have a go in more visibility. had a lot of fun firing into the gloom though.
There is guy called spearojoe on forum who is also a student in plymouth, Mite be worth sending him a PM.

I know a guy at uni who i play octopush with sometimes, he does spearfishing so its probably him. ill make him teach me haha.
Welcome m8. If i could say to you always remember a spear gun is not a toy and can kill. If you can,t see in front of you their maybe a rock in front of you and the spear could bounce back at you.
Hope you get some good diving before the winter sets in. Also joining the British spearfishing association is a good idea £25 p a which gets you large worldwide third party insurance

bigbury is bad in a southery/westerly wind and suffers when theres a swell but clears up fairly quickly, always worth taking the board with just incase

Bigbury is the only place I have surfed and speared on the same day!
wne out in the boat yesterday problems are all sorted now saw a few bass and managed 2 saw the biggest shoal off golden mullet ever must have been atlesat 50 strong mmaybe 100 actualy took away 2 mullet a great dive still loads o bass about people!!!

Went in on Saturday with dan not the best viz still manage to find some fish nice to see the bass are still around,missed a big double figure bass on Wednesday :head:headnot a happy bunny one off those easy shoot as i shoot the bass turn the other way:vangry:vangry better luck next time .
Got 4 mullets and 2 nice bass on Saturday good spearing session in all

hi all went spearing on sat had 3 nice bass 2 mullet met nick and joe and another guy out and about on nicks boat congratulation to joe who had a nice 7lb plus bass glad to see the fish are still about the viz was ok
Keep your gear indoors warm and dry this winter and safe. I had 3 spearguns stolen last night. My all time favioute gun 75 omer excalibur and a 110 gabbioano snake and 100cm picasso. Very anoyed!
Gonna keep a look on ebay never know it might pop up. Probably some stupid chavs! hopefully they will slip loading the 110 and take all his fingers off or shoot him self with it.
Also had a very expensive Time trialing Disc wheel from my race bike stolen!
Im now down to 1 gun!!!! it was inside for some weird luky reason. Im glad my suits fins and other items where in the garage....

Ermmm, not sure. Im to lazy, just have to save up some money to buy new guns for next season.

Have your guns got any distinguishing marks or features? Surely there are only so many places that those guns can be used on the south coast, and something like the 110 Snake isn't exactly a common thing to see. I'll be keeping my eye out for (presumably, noticably inexperienced) people trying their hand with guns similar to yours.

Me too . When somebody steals something like that , they're taking the money earned to pay for them , the time spent tracking them down and getting them , all that trouble to rig and set them just right .
But worst of all they take a thing that really belongs to you , something you wanted and made your own , taken and made their own with no effort at all , probably for a few quid at a carboot sale . Ba$+^@ds !
