Metalsub UK - Handheld XL7.2 Torch

Great torches - very well made, though that is reflected in the price.

Nearly £300 is too rich for my taste, bit like the FAMI. Nice aluminium engineering but you need to get with the times and go injection moulded plastic and micro electronics. Plus if you want an LED metalsub add another £150. Ouch!

Trouble with the UK LED's torches is they went with one LED where as PT went with 3 LED's in one torch. More complicated reflector on the PT but always going to give more light, especially output per £.

Still unconvinced theres better out there than the PT shockwave LED 400. Definitely value for money and good enough for any diving/spearing situation. Plus strong, lightweight, corosion proof etc.

Went for a drive on Friday to find some viz and hopefully a bass! my choosen spot looked good from the top of the hill but once in the viz was a bit pants but doable.

Dived for 1 hour with only glimpes of silver in the murk. tried a bit deeper to find the place swarming in pollack and whiting, Im not a big fan of whiting but one of thems going to get next time im down there as im starving

I decided to get out as the wind had picked up, the viz had dropped to nothing and the sea was getting choppy as hell. By the time I walked back to the car it seemed drier in the water than out roflrofl

checked the forcast for next week and things are looking a bit crap with high winds coming in again on Thursday :head:head

I'm amazed that I have been in at all in the last month let alone managed to catch a few fish. During that time if the wind has dropped below force 4/5 it's only been for a day and then its back again.

Despite being winter it has been an unusually long spell of highwind and rough weather, well down here anyway.

I had it 2 weeks ago,i posted the report.I didnt have a paper so went and got 1 the next day.My pc gave up before i could post it,got it back yesterday.To be honest i wasnt going to put it up for FOM being only a 5lb bass.I am obsessed though like most others on here.I love it.Its going to be a long winter if this weather dont change soon.

I recently bought a Bombard Aerotec 380, but I'm still looking for an outboard engine - trouble is, I can't decide which one I need (15hp, 20hp or 25hp, 2 stroke or 4 stroke). They are rated up to 25hp, but I've read somewhere that a lot of people find this too powerful for the boat. Is there anyone else out there who owns a similar boat and would like to offer some advice on the best engine to go for (or who wants to sell me a short shaft engine)?

Personally I don't think you can have too much power when you are using a boat at sea. Although using the max allowed power on a boat will give you a seriously scary ride if you are out on your own, with a few passengers and a bit of current against you it is a different story and you will really appreciate the extra hp.

Gaz I’m with Spiderman, get yourself a 25hp 2 stroke and hang on tight.

4 stroke, get the 4 stroke!!!

So cheap to run, quiet, dont have to keep mixing oil. I just dont trust ebay specials 2 strokes which you can pick next to nothing. Then break after few hours.
Pay a liitle more and save your money in the long run. I use a 15hp which is perfect for my 3.5 hondawave but with another diver and all there gear it can be a little underpowered. But i dive alone 95 percent the time rarther keep fuel cost down with the smaller engine.

Hi Gaz 4 stroke all the way i use to be 2 stroke untill we got the 4 stroke mutch cleaner as well when you flush the engine they is not a drop of oil in the water for my part i like to be over power more power the better:friday
