I have the same boat, as do many other BSA members it is very popular for spearing. Most are using 15hp 2 or 4 stroke. The 15 has enough power for me, but the main consideration for all those that I know is the weight. I know that I can pull my boat up and control it going down the ramp at bognor or that it can launched across all but the steepest of pebble beeches.
Should say that I have a 15/4 stroke

I had a 15hp merc on my 3.4m Zodiac. The boat weighed 36kg and the motor weighed 35kg. With big launching wheels attached I could launch it myself on all but the steepest beaches.

I researched weights quite a bit when I bought it and most 15hp 4 strokes were about 50kg which for me is the difference between a motor I could comfortably carry down my garden path to the shed and one that would be a bit too heavy for comfort.

The other plus point for a 2 stroke that is going to be taken off the boat is that 2 strokes are a lot less fussy about being put down on their sides (although I have heard that 4 strokes are better in this aspect than they used to be)

The Aerotec's got the inflatable V-hull though, so I might have to turn it the other way (bit of trial and error coming up, I think), but I've got an old Freelander, so should go on ok. Thanks Scott - I'm much reassured now.

Other than that, most of the 15hp 2 strokes that I have enquired about have been between 30kg - 35kg, I think.

brixhams great to test out new toys. Lots of parking, big slipway and the coastguard are a stones throw away rofl

The downsides to Brixham is the divings crap, the viz is crap and the waters full of litter :rcard

You're exactly right Jolly. Tribs, Crazywind, Budleigh and myself have been praying for a break in the weather this wekend. Sunday morning is favourite at the moment. Have you got any plans?

Hey all.
Just got back yesterday from a couple of weeks out in Sharm El Sheikh. Wall to wall sunshine, 30m+ viz and 24 deg water. Dived in the Ras Mohammed National Park with turtles, and even found one asleep on the coral at 20m. We took a trip up to Dahab to see the Blue Hole. Its an amazing dive site, it really does just drop away into blackness. Shot lots of video and photos, so I'm editing them down for a youtube vid.

Around the inshore reefs there was just the usual small fish, but out on the offshore reefs there were big Golden Trevallys, schools of 10 or so Tuna up to about 25lb, coral Groupers and Napoleonfish. We scuba dived a location called the "Shark Observatory" where they see Oceanic white tips, but I was there the wrong time of the year. Lots of turtles though, we had one swimming alongside us for a while.

We stayed in Sharks Bay at the Sierra Savoy resort. Its rated as a 5* but is more a 3-4*. Food was very good, and cooked fresh everyday. The rooms were clean, towels and bedding changed every day. The beach was a 5min walk away, with draught beer on tap! I would definatly go back there again.

Scott do you have to pay to launch at brixham?

Paighton is where i launched most this summer, can still launch and recover and low tide with a small ish boat like mine.

also anyone got any old outboards that have the bolt clamps on them they want to sell? I need a new out on my outboard.
