Matt, I have two torches for sale.
This one-beaver plasma led for £70+p&p.
And this one-beaver platinum for £40+p&p.

Both are in very good condition. Both have had little use.
Obviously I can't give a proper guarantee, but would give a refund should any problems arise.
I would prefer them to go to db members if possible.
Let me know if at all interested.

I all whent for a dive with north1 today did not see 1 mullet but lots of baby pollock around,viz was good 5 to 7 m did find this monster in the shallow 6+m clean shoot in the head a bit of a hand full ater i pull him out his hole did think he was going to bend my spear in art and craff metal bending style whent on to a reef knife in the head one 22lb14oz dead conger.

been in tonight vis was amazing,not to cold and nice and flat only thing missing were some sizeable fish..
did see 20-30 small flounder and 2 sole but all babies saw some small pollock and a few fish ive never been before did have a visit frfom the coastguard on the way out wondering what i was doing.an enjoyable dive but the hunt for a flattie continues

I went in for a quick hour dive yesterday afternoon. 8m+ viz with a bit of chop on the surface and ground swell. Lobster hunting was the order of the day, using my spear as a hook. I did find one in a deep hole, but no way was he coming out. Surfacing from about 6m through the kelp, I ended up in the middle of a shoal of big mullet with an unloaded gun. By the time I had caught my breath they were gone. C'est la vie.....
Going back today though

If anyone is on the lookout for a small bright torch, one of these will fit the bill. Gav6280’s Review of the Chinese P7 900 Lumen Light - SSC-P7-C-SXO

They're supposedly 900lm and the SCUBA boys seem to like them. Seen one up close and its very bright. More than my PT Shockwave LED with a crisper white light.

Thanks for the advice on the torches guys - the chinese one looks pretty interesting but seems a long wait on delivery.

I managed to find my pitiful little torch yesterday so I went for a night dive last night. I was surprised to to see very little and nothing of a takeable size; I think Trelawney has emptied the plaice :t. It was nice to turn the torch off and swim through the luminescent plankton, but I came home fishless. I think the kelp is begining to bloom as the vis wasnt great but It might be while before I get back in again..

Where did you go Dan? The usual haunts? Near the pipe off the ledge is a sand/gravel mix and you could do the depth needed there.

I had a dive yesterday off Plymouth for a couple of hours looking for scallops. I found 7 decent size ones along with 5kg worth of fishing weights!
A couple of friends turned up after I'd been in for 40min or so. Rowan found a big Lobster under some hull plating in about 10m of water. It was quite a deep hole under a piece of right angle plate. No way was it coming out, so we decided to lift the plate and grab him. The three of us went down, turned the plate and the Lob shot out. I saw him through the murk and quickly pinned him to the sand. He was a big ole boy, and I couldn't quite get a secure hold of him so had to use both hands. No fun with 0viz, low on breath and a monster claw waving around in the silt. I reckon he would have been pushing 10lb, but he only had one claw.

Any chance of sending a helicopter to come and pick me up from Cambodia? I'm stuck here waiting for Thai Airways to clear their massive backlog of stranded passengers. Unfortunately I'm nowhere near the coast so can't take advantage of the warm water. I was in Sihanoukville for a day last week but as it was a work trip I only managed a sneaky one hour dip in quite poor viz on a sandy bottom. Still managed to see my first ever octopus (tiny) and an evil looking blue jellyfish in the shallows after I got out.

Leave some fish for me when I get back please!

Just got a torch and was wondering if anyone had some valuable info about night spearing. Should you hold the torch all the time? or set it up in a good location and dive the same spot? going for a dip all weekend. Should be nice.

Welcome to DB mate. Personally I hold my torch in my left hand and gun in my right and actively swim around hunting for fish. Only ever heard one member mention setting up a torch and attracting fish but doesn't seem very likely in my experience although i've never actually tried it.

I go to sandy shallowish bays at night. The fish come in closer and venture more out into the open. However, it's still a bit of a new game to me and I'm learning all the time.

Havent had the chance to get in lately but made up for it today with a shore dive at high tide. Seen my first bass of the season after about 30 mins into the dive,it was spot on 5lbs. I only seen one other bass of about 4lbs.
I went to a spot where i normaly see a lot of mullet but only caught a glimps of the odd one or two in the distance. I did find a nice lobster while looking for flatties and a single large scallop.
Viz was good and the sea was cold but things are looking up.
I did get in for the last 2 hours of light last night and had one mullet out of a large shoal and a big squid that came in to the mullet on my stringer while i was getting out in waist deepth water. The gun was unloaded with the float line wrapped on it for the walk back up the cliff so i had to stab it with the gun.

Great start to the spearing season Nick, especially the Squid.
