Cheers for the vid BB. Will bear it in mind if I see any others. Having said that, his started off looking alot whiter than mine did. Maybe because it was a squid not a cuttle.

I left the skin on the tentacles and skinned the body and it all tasted pretty damn good anyway.

Also getting into smoking pollack - tastes b e a utiful after curing for a few days first. Sorry I'm hungry.........

Hi all,

Just back from Sandy Bay with 2 nice bass and a chubby mullet. Need to be on the lee side Si my friend. Looked very fishy but my mate came out empty handed and said he'd seen little all night. I saw the bass as singles, the mullet I had came from a shoal and I saw better mullet in pairs cruising just out of range for the Gabianno. Very enjoyable though.

Typical! Would usually have timed it better, but given the option of sit in front of a computer at work or dive, I chose the better one! Despite barely being able to see my hand in front of my face it was still better than the computer!!

Got tomorrow off work so hoping to hit a few spots, what are peoples thoughts for the weather/vis?

hi foxfish yes great trip manage 8th in the open comp and won the silverfish comp on the sunday. had the biggest bream ,bass, and mullet fantastic trip great friends and company happy hunting mate

Just got back from a night dive with Teo in the south hams. There was pleanty of windswell around tonight so decided against one spot and drove out of the wind. We got in and looked around the usual rocks and gullies. The vis wasnt great on the top but clearer a couple of meters down. The first bass I got was just off some rocks over the sand and i dived down onto him thinking he was a small pollack - turned out to be a 3lb bass. Carried on hunting the rocks but to no avail so decided to try the shallow sandy areas for flatties but instead managed another 3 smaller bass, the smallest just a pound or so (but legal). We got out after a couple of hours as we were getting a bit seasick but it was a good nights diving.

Me and Tom tried Secret Spot code name 'Oddicombe' for the first time yesterday on a falling tide, nice place to dive but neither of us saw a lot, did see a couple of trigger fish between us and Tom came away with a nice mullet, prob 3-4lb.

Moved on to Budleigh, nice dive on slack tide, bagged myself a mulet to match Toms, apparently he also got a bass but it escaped his stringer...

Saw someone else out at Budleigh, blue scuba fins by the look of it, was that you Amateur Spearo? Or anyone else on here?

Nope not me, been doing a few reccy trips in the Bay yesterday eve and early this morn at a couple of spots I've never known anyone else spearing. The ground looked superb - plenty of stringy weed to hide in but only saw one shootable fish on each trip. This amounted to one decent mullet last night and a missed bass at point blank range early this morning (kinda took me by surprise after seeing diddly squat for two hours and feeling strangely cold) . Was going to go out this eve but England rugby and a few beers took over so will have to wait till the morning.....

Went out on the boat today to take a few pictures around the bay with Dan Bolt

Took the gun but didn't really spend much time on the search for fish but instead enjoyed good viz and good company.

Trelawny you will be happy to know that the air deck is fixed and the boat is running like a dream

Went for a night dive last night; didn't see any bass but did see plenty of small sole (too small) and bagged myself a nice Red Mullet.

Got the Red Mullet out of the freezer tonight, simply pan fried it with butter, thyme, salt and pepper. Got to say it was very tasty indeed! Thought it was worth a picture as they are a pretty fish!

Great pics Scott - and quite different from the usual type of photo.

Nice demonstration of the best way to look around cover too (i.e: right handed shooter looking around the right hand side of the pillar/rock, thus exposing himself as little as possible).

Hi guys new to this forum I just wanted some advice, I am heading off to Devon 2nd week in September and wanted to know of any good places to go and also to dive.

I dove alot in Cornwall and abroad but have never dived in Devon. I use a 75cm and a 135cm 3band gun. If anyone ha some advice that would be great. Thank you.

can anyone recommend a good coastal campsite with level pitches and great views of the coast, mid to west devon area. Site just needs the basic faciliies.....
