First crazily busy with work, then no viz and now a cold that seems to have gone into my chest.

Fear not Mr. Spiderman, for the viz will clear (as will your cold) and the season of excellent night-diving is fast approaching. Get in touch for a night dive or two when the wind dies down...

It took some cooking Podge. I did a beef wellington with the main part and cooked the sole separate. Both were tough as olds boots!!!

You should have left the sole in the fridge for a few days to soften up!

Personally I adjust the cooking method to match fresh fish - but some folk like to soften the flesh & increase the flavour of sole by leaving it in the fridge for 3 days - I make goujons...

All these cooking tips for wellington boots. Next time i will try not to shoot one.
I seen a Sunfish today while out spearfishing. I managed to get close enough to touch it if i wanted. I had my camera with me and did get him on film before he realised i was there and disappeared into the gloom of poor viz.

Mate you should have got the picture with a news paper, was it a common old Hunter welly or the much tastier leather lined, full length zip Le Chameau, it would of got my vote

I did get a pic but only with the spear trigger fish and welly as it came out of the water. I had to cut the boot to get the spear out. It looked like a fishermans boot. Not a designer type. Your right i should of took a pic with a newspapaer lol.

Hi everyone, ive been spearing in Plymouth for a year or two now and have finished my degree and bought a car. Would anyone be up for taking me along as their buddy anywhere. I would like to develop my skills more and maybe swap a couple of spots so I'm not so hit and miss about where I find fish.

Hi Greg,most spearos dont share there hard earned spots. I have made the mistake of taking a spearo to a spot only for them to tell me the next day they went back with there mates.

Fair one shiney, I think ive got a secret (ish) spot myself now so keeping that to myself. I was more interested in going somewhere which isnt secret and learning from someone who is better than me, although deeper blue has taught me a massive amount I feel, like any sport, I would benefit from being around others much better than me. At the moment its just about finding spots that arent blown out by the weather haha.

A couple of years ok i tried to organise a get together with a few spearos in and around Plymouth. After lots of PMs a meet was sorted just to get to know each other and at a later date meet for a few dives. I think about 8 peolpe were interested but only 3 of us turned up. Me Trelawney and Hunt Shoot and Fish. I didnt bother after that and kept to myself or a few mates that dont post or use this site.

Hi,was the welly a left or right foot and what size was it (above MLS i hope!!)as i am missing a right foot size 10 and have been looking on E bay and at car boot sales for ages !! but i suppose it now has holes in it anyway so will be of no use after all, ha ha ha ***

Shiny1 I am not worthy. Well impressed with the trigger fish. Never seen one in this country let alone shoot one. Also at that depth I'd probably be in danger of drowning...

Been sticking to the shallows and managed to find some great viz last night and my pb bass of 6lb2oz to go with it. Not the longest fish but really fat and had a belly full of shore crabs and little fish.

Apologies to the coast guard who met me on the way out responding to an 'abandoned' bag and thanks to the lady who rang for the concern!

Hi, despite weather forecasts of strong winds etc ,Torbay is well sheltered from westerlies,and i had a quick look this afternoon (high tide) at Meadfoot and the vis appeared good ,did anyone get in earlier ,and what was it like as i am planning to go in tomorrow at low tide .

I have a comanche 75 gun, one band this afternoon has broke whilst swimming with a large shoal of Pollock with bass in amongst them ( 2 taken )
The gun is 18 months old and if I'm honest the gun & bands has probably been neglected, where as my suit etc is washed after every trip.
Do bands rot that quickly or does it seem excessive, been out 1 or 2 times a week on average.
Thinking I will learn by my mistake, the bands are obviously put under extreme pressure and looking back I regret not looking after them.
Think I have answered my own question but feel gutted because as soon as the bass were on the string, the shoal was back. Plus dive shop closed until Monday.

Met a new spearo today Teignmouth area named Josh, if your reading this welcome to the forum and thanks for leaving the fish in the sea. ha ha, Nice to meet you mate.
