Spearfishing Photos

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Well, what happpened with this guy is that there were two of them. Mario and I did not know that. We were drift diving when two small jacks swam by. Mario went to shoot one of them for chum when the two groupers scattered. They ran out to the sand to see what the hell the noise was all about. I tracked them till they calmed down.

Once the groupers settled back down I did my breathe up and dropped right in overhead. I tried to keep my profile down by not kiking as soon as I felt that I was negative. I continued my glide till I was in range and pulled the trigger. I hit the fish right in the sweet spot . Right where the gill plate meets the lateral line. The prob. was that it was at a downward angle and the spear toggled under the meaty part under the gills. He headed straight for a hole and tore off the spear. He gouged notches in my sst spear with the rocks. I hope my spear is OK> I went for another shot and hit him right in the head. This time I had to drag him to the surface cause the reel line was caugt in the rubber bands. I was not going to let go of the gun cause there was a ledge that dropped over to 100 feet and we would have lost the fish and the gun. Thats the story and I'm stickin to it. Lies and all:cool:

Awsome

hi

Thats an awsome story Aquiles I admire your diving ability. When I shot my 73lb Maori Wrasse two weeks ago he dragged my spear deep in a cave and totally destroyed my spear, luckily it was in 10ft of water so I could get him out after and hour of making dives and trying to rip him out.

cheers

No scanner

hi

I have a photo but no scanner so I can't put it on here id love to though.

cheers

For this grouper I used a rabitech 120cm. I shortened up the bands to give it a little more kick. I also used a reel with dynema. The gun is stock. I try to keep things as simple as possible. The most I will do is give a gun more oomph by putting more power to the shaft. I was using one band a 20mm band. You don't need much more than that. The shaft was a 7mm

You have to check with florida freedivers. They are the only ones that seem to carry it. Look in the above threads to see what i used. I said it in the story:head I think. If not I will give you the specs. The rabi. is a gun out of south africa. I have no links on how to get them other than florida freedivers..

Ahem... as Sven said, "it'd show a lot of class to sign your Karma"

Karma is something to pay attention to Murat. Perhaps there are those that question your excitement and experience here, especially with your freely advising others on spearguns while just recently aquiring your mask and fins? Traits of a good diver in addition to actual diving skills and humor are humility and humbleness.

Do what you want but mind the Karma.

Ok..
If there are that kind of people i have few word to them.
May be i am not as experianced as some of guys here. But i belive that my advises are never ever trash or nonsense.I belive it if i am saying it.May be i haven't had a chance to dive in ocean and hunt big fishes with big guns but this is not my fault. Its just beyond my reach.I am snorkelling for few years and spearing for a year.To be honest not more than ten times spearing. But that doesn't mean i am an empty bin.I am sure i know much more than some more experianced spearo here coz i am searching and i am reading. Some of you may think that reading is not diving or you can not learn it by reading. It's true but i may have some ideas about something and i see no problem to share them with you in order to help you.
If you don't like my advise just don't listen. :D :t

and it's been noted, murat.

remember, it's the mentors' responsibility to monitor posts so that information given will not endanger others who take the said information into personal practice. your idea of "sharing" is exactly how it should be. that's what most of us do here anyways. just make sure that when you're sharing fictional experiences, you tell it as such.

anderson

ps. the first obstacle that any spearo has to get past is humility. the sooner this is realized, the better.

I never state that my advices are physical laws or whatever. You mentioned spearguns, if you search my post all over again you couldn't find any phrase that saying "No only my ideas are true or i am not wrong".
Anyway thats shouldn't be the reason for taking neg. karma coz i took it from this thread and there is no arguments about spearguns or whatever other than the fun.

Rabitech

Funnily enough the rabitech website is at www.rabitech.com
:D
not much info there but.. Ive heard from other users that its a good gun but havent used or even held one myself so I cant comment on its performance, setup or penetration power..

btw Murat, Karma isn't always given for a particular post, could be the giver (or taker) has accumulated enough frustration or disappointment in you to let it out then and there..

They are good guns. The site must be new cause I tried that the other day and got mothing.. i Think that I typed in a search for it hough ?

Thanks, wise_ _ _ !:hmm I like the gun so far. They are a beefed up version of the Rob allen. I like them cause they are quieter. They don't klink as much under water. The only thing I had to do was shorten the bands cause they were too long.

Cheers

My browser doesn't like the taste of rabitech's cookies ;
what kind of pistolgrip are they using ?
