Anybody been watching the weather for the last few days, what's it been like? It looks like the wind up to and including the weekend isn't going to be too bad.

Is it worth a punt?

I think the forecasts look ok maybe one of the local lads can confirm, but as ever.... You've gotta be in it to win it..

It'll definitely be fishable on Saturday - shame about Sunday.

New gun arrived today, putting the 70 next to the 90, it is surprising how visually small the difference between them is - I really do wonder how genuinely more manoeuvrable a 70 is compared to a 90...

If anyone is considering the RA guns and is not sure between the carbon and the aluminium versions - an aluminium 70 weighs 70 grams less than a carbon 90. Surprising as on first impressions, I'd guessed that the shorter alu gun was heavier. It's a very sturdy little thing.

They were 1,340g & 1,270g respectively.

The spear / metal ended bungee rattles a bit on the alu barrel but I'm going to give mine a clear acrylic wrap to cut down on noise and scratches.

I'm mildly (very) mistrusting of the closed muzzle... looks like it will catch the crimp on the spearline when fired and reduce the accuracy of the gun although I've been assured it won't. I hadn't managed to get a good look at it as the images on the website were a bit rubbish.

Can put a photo up is anyone is interested.

I can say that using a 60 in north wales is something not stupid at all!!!

Three years ago I fished almost all summer with a very simple and old 60cm gun with brilliant results in open water. No idea of south wales but in north wales it is quite usual to find 1mt vis if you fish with all conditions and a 75 is too long. And in some places like menai strait and inland sea where there is strong current and low vis a 60 is much more easy to handle and effective for hunting. NO DOUBT!

Shot 8 pounders with that 60 with no problems whatsoever. Later on I set up a 50 with trident to shoot big bass in the kelp with low visibility but never had a chance to use it.

Happy hunting in north wales!

Ok, convinced... Better than the 1m i had last week. If all goes well, down tomorrow round the end of llyn. Hope to see you there! Msg or call me if any of you want company, understand if rather fish alone

Pat

I'm very tempted to give tomorrow a shot (if I can get out of this pub), but don't fancy the far end of the llyn. I might hit the menai for almost guaranteed mullet and possible other. Any takers?

Well the master is a bit ill and need a surgery to the lungs to be able to go back in the water and stalk some fish. :ko

Had some good dives though before getting this problem.
