Spearing north wales

In with both feet. Tried 2 spots on the north, both had viz of approx an 1-2 arms length. swam several times face first vertically into unseen bottom (dark on bottom) and horizontally into unseen rocks closer to shore. Accepted the situation and sacked it for a drive/walk exploring coast for new spots, will return to some when conditions are better, but all looked visibly worse than spots tried earlier. Hoped for better viz with surface conditions so flat. Hopefully it will clear with low winds.... Let's see tomorrow..

Ah been there !Sounds like time to look and mark the map, drive down all those little farm tracks leading to the sea and get dirty looks from the small house holder whos garden youve just driven over!!!OS maps dont tell you if they have BIG guard dogs! LOL.You know youve gone to far when the wheels are turning but your not moving! let us all know about the vis tomorrow.

Hey guys, I might give it a go this weekend if there is any viz about. might go for a wonder about in the morning with my nipper. ive got some good place's in mind if there is some viz

hey manic are you about all weekend? if you are do you fancy meeting up for a dive if we the vis gets any better?

Dyl, i was gonna say 2 peeps cover more ground in recce mode, if either of of us spot reasonable vis in an area we could give heads up and maybe look to hook up... You bet me to it.
Yeah I'm determined to stick it out for the whole w/e in the hope of reasonable to good vis (ever the optimist), so I'd deffo be up for some buddy action. Let's see what the sea brings

Looks like it could be better today light south westerlys ,looking calm on the web cams ,must be some vis on north side down the bottom end.hope you all find some and some fish.

Looked quite milky this morning on recce, looked in on a few places some worse than others.
Got in near HT surface was visibly better than yesterday but not great. Bottom was better than yesterday by far. Was varied though from 1-3 m. Drifted/swam across the bay for a couple of hours. Only saw 1 large wrasse which just 'sat' there a meter or so from me eye balling me till I surfaced, a dog fish and a weenie little pollock. Vis was zero When I got out at other side maybe due to run off from the land. Had a challenge walking back along cliffs with sloppy muddy trail.
Despite the lack of fish I enjoyed getting out. It's been a really nice day.
If it clears as much again tonight tomorrow should be pretty good.

Tempted by an anglesea trip this pm... Is it worth it? Whats the news?!

Don't know about Anglesey, and haven't been in yet but had a walk earlier and looks better than yesterday and flat calm (on north) I'm guessing the bottom will be better too

I took a last minute trip over to Anglesea West coast. First stop was total whiteout, didnt get in as couldnt see the rocks from the cliff, so drove a few miles south and got in at an old fave. Viz slightly better so took the plunge. Although successful in the past, I always find this spot tricky as there is loads of kelp cover.. A real mixed blessing as I have managed to stalk here in the past, but today with the viz at 1-3m, I guess they could see me coming as didnt see a thing other than a huge wrasse when i was lying on the bottom. dont know who was more surprised! quite a few shore crabs about and was tempted to take a handful for a nice crab bisque but left the net in the car! Water a bit chillier but was still fine after couple of hours when i had to admit i was prob wasting my time. It was a great afternoon though, sun shining through the kelp was gorgeous, even if it was a bit milky and glorious sun on the beach... VERY busy!

I'm thinking that this weekend I might make one last effort for this year. Anyone in the area at the moment, what are the conditions looking like?

do let us know how you get on and what vis is like im planning on coming down at weekend try and get in if few times befor winter realy sets in which could be thid weekend at least the sea is still warm at the moment but i think the air temp and wind chill will be horrible. Do you think it will be north easterlys sat sun ?stuck land locked in wellingbrough with work for two weeks..................update ....it could be a nice weekend looking at the charts this morning with a nice high coming in.hope it holds the northly winds off.

Sorry for the overdue report. I didn't manage to get in till today first at 4 then again at 8. Both on south side. Saw 3 bass on the first dive no shot on tho. Left feeling very cold and disapointed. Water is cooling quickly. Biggest 4lb ish. Vis 3-4m. Second dive turned out to be very interesting. Mainly for the wrong reasons. Ten minutes in a big school of bass passed. Took one, only small tho 1.5lb ish got a second a little later slightly bigger. Third one a good 3lb er. Surfaced to sort it out to be greated by loads of lights paning the water, and engine noise. Lifeboat come to rescue me. I swam to the shore to meet the coastguard so I could tell them I was fine. I ended up giving two of my bass to the coastguard. So this is the one I kept.
