Spearing north wales

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.

going in in the next couple of hours anyone see the sea where shall i go ?im nr pwllheli way at mo.
 
quick dip v braceing cold winds coming round to easterly poss south easterly sea was nice n warm vis 1-3m second spot was well trashed c what morning brings.saw two foot eel by time id got the new gopro case/camera on it was gone! Footage looks alot crisper with new houseing even in pitch black.
 
hey ian, i'm thinking of getting in tomorrow, fancy meeting up? not sure where to go. any ideas?
 
yep try n met up just dont know what winds going to do still looking at charts just somewhere sheltered....looks like strong northerlys tomorrow on wind guru

Got in sun rise this morn on the south out of the wind frosty start air v cold sea 8 oc vis 3-10m + fantastic blue sky flat sea 3 bass seen 1 taken happy bunnie vid tomorro hopefully
 
which one of you crazy boys was diving the training arm on the in side with the black mitsi ?hope you didnt shoot a boat lol pwllheli way did you get any thing i allways though it would be very fishy didnt have the guts to try it !

had a go coming up to high vis was very milky gave up after 15 min so dark cold n milky big moon very bright thought it was going to be good vis n v fishy how wrong ya can be !it was spooky there were witches running round!
 

This almost happened to us when we were night diving off a remote beach near Plymouth. We had two hours in the water, which involved navigating some exposed rocks, so sometimes we were shining the torches out of the water to find out way through.
When we were getting changed in the car park, a coastguard landrover drives in, followed by a second more tooled up landrover and a carload of RNLI volunteers. Out came the big search torches, helmets, beards, hi-viz and ropes.
I looked at Rowan a bit sheepishly, he looked at me, and we slowly walk over to see what they are up to. I asked them if they were here because of someone reporting lights in the water by the reef. It turned out that it was a late night training exercise and nothing had been reported. Up to that point I felt a right plum, so now I give them a call before going out for a night dive.
It might stop a full scale rescue from being started, but also if something does go badly wrong and you are reported missing, they at least know where to start looking for you.

Not me mate, but have done it loads of times. Just stay near rocks. It's ok hit or miss with the rain fall. When the tides ebbing get in at the roundabout and drift down, swim back on the other side climb over the rocks and do it again. Easy diving.
Well done on you bass btw. It sounds like there's only you and I still spearing apart from whoever was in Pwll

Got in again this evening vis 6m very calm.(gave the coastguard a call first. They were happy help. Live and learn!!!) Colder still. Saw 3 good bass and took them all. Biggest 4 and half lbs. here's a pic.

 
Very nice fish !well done to you braveing it conditions are really turning now .cant beleave how good the vis was today looks like you may of had some to must try some new spots next time im out .
 
good work with the bass. I managed to get in last night. not much fish about where i went, after one and a half hours of searching saw a mullet, one on the stinger. five mins later saw a place and got that on the stinger. no bass seen. excellent vis. really breathtaking.
 
glad the vis was good i wasnt making it up!had a look round in the afternoon the sea looked great with v good vis went back when dark on high n it was crap would of met up with ya sorry bud least ya got fish!
 
Yeah had an excellent dive I was in for about two hours. Water was so calm and clear. Got to be one of the best this season. I had to laugh people on the shore shouting to make sure I was ok. so I guess had I not heard them nor notified the CG I'd have seen the lifeboat again. So where did you two get in. North side/ south side?
 
I was in on the south east how two spots 2 miles apart can be so different ! Bit like yesterday and todays weather !just look at the hells mouth web cam now !

Managed a dive yesterday. Initially looked at the straits but that was zero viz, so headed down to the south Llyn. Remarkably good viz. Managed 1 decent mullet at 4 pounds, managed to lose another of the same size (I even had it in my hands!!!). I had the spear bounce off one at long range, I spent too long trying to decide which fish to shoot at and also took a shot at one from the surface but missed, all in all I should've bagged 4 or 5!
