Spearing north wales

Went in for a few hours on West coast of Anglesea. Viz variable but min about 3 and max about 6 esp on bottom. Saw one large mullet, four large bass and two shoalies and single handidly missed the whole f'in lot! They were all very shy and I was either in just the wrong position or hanging out on the bottom with the shot just obscured. I was fishing with a seal which probably didnt help. It was good to see them I suppose and it was a very nice swim but thats fishing! I reckon the slightly slower responses of a night dive might have copped me three or so big ones... But then I would wouldnt I?!

Dived Llyn South Coast this afternoon - 3-4m milky viz.

Water felt cold - saw almost nothing. Missed a massive flatty and took a good mullet. Those were the only fish I saw. Did not 'feel' fishy at all.

Saw 3 big, lone mackeral herding sandeels which was pretty cool. Apart from that, sea was dead. Skipped the night dive tonight for a bit of beer and girlfriend time ;)

Its certainly not summer any more!

Well done on Bass Dyl!

I hope the weather holds out(it's supposed to get better from what I've seen. Hopefully the viz will improve even more with it.

Oh dear, that's not the report I was hoping for. I was hoping for something along: 10m+ vis, water was so warm that I didn't even bother with the wetsuit, shoals of massive bass everywhere and even saw a few tuna. The dive was finished off with 20 minutes playing with a pod of dolphins, which was awesome. When I got out my girlfriend told me she'd just checked my lottery numbers and I'd won 147million. On the way home I discovered the solution to world peace and eternal life.

Now get back in the water and find some good vis and big fish so I know it's worth coming down there this weekend. Don't make me beat you!!! :vangry:ko

South Coast near Pwhelli 2-3 m murky viz - very windy with a lot of swell off shore. No fish anywhere, spoke to 3 separate fishermen, all blanked.

Had a look from the cliffs at Porth Oer - terrible viz and swell. Didn't get in.

Just looking over Aberdaron now, very windy and swelly - no viz.

Anyone thinking of coming down tomorrow, don't bother. Leave it until the weekend!

Beautiful clear skys this morning but pretty gusty. Seemed to be windy all night but dropped off around 6am, just strong gusts now. Not feeling too confident about the viz...

Anyone thinking of going for a swim in Aberdaron, watch out for gill nets. Some assh*le has abandoned 2 in the bay, they've been there for 3 days now. Feeling quite tempted to go and take them up at low tide and bin them. They are illegal after all.

I think I'm going to write this weekend off. Thanks for the reports Bro, you've saved me another disappointing journey.

Yup, if you can get them nets out without any risk, then get them. Failing that, can you report them as a safety hazard to swimmers and let the authorities get 'em?

The day started badly, checked Aberdaron, Oer and Dinllaen - all trashed.

Decided to just jump in at a totally random beach on the South Coast - a what a surprise - viz was a lovely 4m-ish with a touch of haze. Then it all went a little bit 'Dario'... ;)

Started off with a beautiful little Gold Spot mullet, my first one. That was followed by a fat PB Grey Mullet. Saw tons and tons of small bass and mini mullet zooming around. Took a couple of nice little bass and finished up with another Grey Mullet - the shot of the season for me: perfect head shot at extreme range as it disappeared into the murk.

Wonderful! :)
