"starfins" hyper

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Wow, an hour is is plenty! Currently I've also got the time. Hm, so why not?
Have you got a video of you using your fin? That might be interesting.

@Dave:
Your Starfin is too stiff for you, right? I've read that you prefer a soft blade in the pool, but what about CWT? Do probably don't use the same fin with the added weight ...

I'm using a WW #2 stiffness in CWT and finding it a little on the stiff side. It's best suited to fast ascents of around 1.8m/s which is not really what I want to be doing. I have a very soft carbon Glide fin for the pool but need to modify the footpockets so haven't been able to use it yet. It should be about right - it's something like a #.5 on the fibreglass scale. For the time being I'm training with my #2 and just doing fast swims.

I just wan't to cheer starfins a little bit! :)
Current women's National Record in Finland, is done with starfin. (182m, and diver did not even pack extra air!) Fin worked well since the first dive. Here is two examples with old mono vs starfin.
150m with old mono 2min43s [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWaa4uKfFn0]Saana DYN 150m - YouTube[/ame]
175m with starfin 2min41s [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOs5vZPYe3k]Saana 175m dynamic dive, no packing - YouTube[/ame]
Ok, old mono was not perfectly tight for her, but tha's very common problem if footpocket is not chosen by exact measurement's like with starfins.

Thanks!

It looks like Saana has a great capacity for dynamic. I think she would even do better if she starts of slower, smoother (pushing water) technique.

Hello Dave. can you find somebody from N.Z who will fly to Ukraine for football champ ? I'll like to make smaller pockets on your last Glide-fin and bring it to Nice in Sept. or send to Jody Fisher to Australia if it's not far from you :)

Is this supposed to be "good style"?

Hello Guys. just 1 important info about blades. Alex and other producers buy hand made fiberglass blades from us. we ship our hand made blades even to Chen Bin to China. You will find absolutely the same blades in many fins. we produce 10pcs /day. Biggest USA producer also use our monoblades.Nobody else in past USSR can do this work for export.our blades have 100micron layers. 20pcs in 2mm. big factory has 12m press machine with maximum power. I give quaranty that blade respond, will keep the same speed after 2000km.it's about 2 seasons in finswimming sport. welcome to waterwayfins.com

He is not wrong - though I prefer the foot pockets of starfins. The mono fin community is one family :)

Making ads in the thread of a competitor is not the way to go - just my opinion.

With respect, Maui400, I think Bogden is telling us good things about the quality of blades.

All right. Let's stop this discussion and let everyone judge for himself. No offense though.

I view it like this - when I go to Sears to buy a lawn tractor they tell me 'this tractor is made for us by MTD' or 'This tractor costs more, but it is made for us by Husqvarna' etc. etc.

Hi everyone,
Oh, I am very pleased to welcome my friend Big Boss from a reputable company and a huge thank you for visiting my thread, and help to tell more about the quality of our products!
Indeed, our company from time to time, buy the blades from Bogdan. But last year, has been collected only 2% of their fins, blades, as Bogdan refused to supply (sale). And indeed all over the world can be counted on the fingers of the company, or even more individuals who own technique of removal of layers from the original 2.0-2.3mm fiberglass. Ie handmade blades! This is a very laborious process, requiring a large long-term experience! In Ukraine, only a few manufacturers, including us, can make the blades by hand. We bought them from Bogdan to accelerate the creation of fins, as well find their quality. But as we developed technology allows to achieve excellent performance using the factory blades! People who have written their comments here in most cases the factory blade, but also manual work, too and not all with Bogdan`s ! By the way one of them, Torsten, waiting for the blade of his future Starfin few weeks until Bogdan has agreed to sell it. As he tried to have our fins, with the blade of his friends hand and then ordered a replica of the fin. In general, the main thing is not cutting blade - it is only 20% of the material of fin! The main thing is to feel that the fins - a continuation of our body in the water, which is made of quality materials. To understand this you need to try once, while several manufacturers fins!
Regards, Alex ...

I am really wanting to buy another star fins :) I use mine every single day at the pool or in open water and it feels like part of me. (also - this fin has been frozen, thawed, put in 84f pool with frost on it, cut by zebra mussels, scraped on rocks etc. etc. and never has needed repair)

Hi all,I‘m here to write a review about the Starfin. I ordered and get in contact with alex, he asked me a few things about the fin and then i ordered one tailor made. The fin came very fast! But it didn‘t fit. It was much too large. So I thought about send it back but than i became the best idea: travell to kiev, make holidays in kiev and come back with perfect sitting monofin.
I were in kiev with and had very beautfiull holidays there! Huge city. I had a very good time with alex and he changed footpockets until it fits perfect. This fins are not all the same! Maybe alex doesn‘t make 1000 fins in a year but every fin he make is really high quality! Now I dived 1 month with the fin and it‘s genius! This fin is not like the Glide I had before! Glide is also great fin, no question but Starfin are custom made for freedver. I have soft blade, alex have many diffrent kind of blades so don‘t hesitare to ask him specially for a blade.
And the most important: The foot pockets fitts now perfect. Of course it hurts after 2 hours but no open bloody toe or really red strikes on the feet! This fin get‘s like a part of me. I don‘t have to work against the fin, the fin works with me.
If you want perfect foot pockets, go to kiev. Nice and cheap city, nice women ;), and perfect fin? what you want more?
Thanks Alex! Order next one defintly again by you!

Yannik :)

Hi Yannik,
haven't we met a few days ago - you and your new blue Starfin? ;-) Too bad we didn't have time to chat a bit about the fins ...
Great news from you! If I wouldn't own a unique Starfin already, I would follow your advice and take the next plane to Kiev.
Anyways, by now I don't just love my fin for DYN but also for CWT. Nevertheless I can "only" wear my fin for about 30min before I have to give my feet a break. But that exactly how I wanted it to be: perfect power transmission, not for leisure.

Hi,

Yes on the swiss championsship? You are mr erhardt?
If you are, how is your health?
everything ok with the lung?

We can chat just let me know on which plattform.

Yannik

Starfins have strange power of attraction.
(how awesome to go to Kiev to have your fin fitted!)
