Thanks for the info Foxfish, night fishing sounds a bit daunting i think ill leave that to the pros .
Hey pisces the competitions that were held this year were set along the south coast from Bognor to Exeter. ill keep an eye out for a suitable one that will be closest to us, i think they start from about june. If anyone knows any different please let me know.
I think u have to join the british spearfishing association to enter for insurance reasons but i think its only about £25 for the year.

hey huntfish the vis at the pier was good probably 6-7 meters at the end.
i did not go sunday, but may give it a go today, will let you know how i get on.

Nice one , what was the vis like today and how deep did u have to go for that lot? iv heard its only about 3-4 meters at the end at low is this correct cos i have a few problems equalising and dont want to bust a drum. but would sure be good to have a haul like that tommorrow.

hey huntfish, yeah its about 3-4 meters at the end so not very deep. what time you going down tommorow i am gonna get their for about 1 oclock because low tide is at 1.40 tommorow afternoon. you been in lately/ caught anything.

oh and by the way the vis was really good probably 5-6 meters maybe more, i could spot the flatfish from the top, which always helps.

No havent been in this week i work in Eastbourne and the vis is rubbish . im gonna be there for about 1-2 o clock so i expect ill see u there . i hope there will be some bream their tasty and im yet to see any. ill bet they are difficult to shoot they are a pretty lively fish when cought on the rod.

Hi, recently moved from Devon to Bromley. Been reading your forum with interest and thought I'd join in.
Have tried a few sites on the sussex coast with mixed results and would appreciate any
tips/local knowledge. After 3 unsuccessful trips got finally lucky today. Caught 2 very nice bass, one of them is already in the oven with some rosemary, fennel and garlic.

Hey jwells1989 that is a lot of fish, are they all plaice or flounder? It is difficult to tell how big they are, did you weigh any?

hey devon dave, i live in brighton and usually spear under the palace pier and the west pier, the palace being better in my opinion.
i am sure huntfish or piscine could give you some info on newhaven area as i have never dived there before but would like to. well done with the bass where abouts did you get them.
josh

i think a couple of them may be flounders as i have just realised when i was filliting them a minuite ago, quite hard to tell. but had a read through some old fishing books and they helped witht helling them apart.
i did not weigh any but at a guess the biggest was maybe 2.5 pounds.
