does anyone know what the vis at bognor is like at the moment and any good spots? thanks.

I tried to fish Bognor once on a spring tide - very strong current and a lot of sand in the water. My guess would be to go at slack water. Keep in mind that it's a fair old swim out to the reef and if you go at low water spring the reef will be exposed.

hello guys, anybody want to go Spearfishing or Freediving this Sunday or Monday?

I was thinking of going down to Brighton with my 3mm suit and fight the cold the anyway possible

I dont have a Speargun yet(I want to get one ASAP) so I wouldnt do that much hunting but if I stay away from the water any longer I might dry up!

Water 10DegCels is acceptable with minimum 5mm open cell wetsuit,
but imagine to have to change on the beach in this cold & wet weather :duh

Also check the surf forecast for Brighton, low swell, but fairly high tide this weekend ... I wonder if any visibility at all right now?

still waiting for descent weather to go again under Brighton's Piers, or elswhere ... also desperately DRY :waterwork

Hi Jay, I went for a dip on Friday - zero (and I mean zero) viz. I went out for a sail today and it's still looking really really murky. The tides are pretty massive at the moment - blame it on the supermoon BBC News - Bigger and brighter 'supermoon' graces the night sky

well guy and i had a dive this morning, looked at west pier and decided to drive to newhaven arm instead in the hope of finding a bit more shelter.
bobsabandsausage is right, zero vis, didnt even bother taking guns out but still nice to get wet and try out the new 7mm suit... toasty!!
is anyone else interested in organising a trip to dorset?

Does anyone spear fish from Selsey?
I am just starting out & I understand that there are quite a few nice fish out from here. I also like the idea of being able to pop round the corner for an hour or so & possibly catch some fish.

I recently bought the oneill 7/3/1 dive hood with bib. I couldn't recommend it enough! It's amazing!!

Looks like next weekend could be better if magicseeweed is right.
Not shure though if I'l bee free. Hoping to start full in by end of May.
Hope meet you then finaly in Brighton.
Otherwise I'd hapily join any trips than, to Bognor, Dorset, Devon.
Looking for dive/spearo budy, aswell as oportunity to share transport. I don't drive

Selsey is an interesting spot which I have fished a few times. There was reasonable viz there the few times I went and plenty of fish around but it all comes at a price. The currents rip through there at a serious pace so you have to be very careful and stick close to the shore. I imagine it would be great for a boat dive on the right day but I haven't found the time yet. Hope that helps a bit.

Thank you Ed I was planning to go in at high water slack which is about 4 hours after high water. That way the vis is usually a bit better & go under the lifeboat pier, as I have seen schools of mullet under there when on scuba. They are also building massive new sea defences on the west beach which involves dumping thousands of tonnes of boulders going about 30m off the beach this will hopefully form a reef system in the future, & attract some nice fish.

There are 2 the inner & outer mulberries. The inner one is in about 6m of water off pagham about half mile off. Shore a bearing of aprox 140 from the church spire, the top of it dries out on spring tides. There is a big red marker right by it.

I've not been out there at all and I'd be quite up for it. Do you think the viz would be any good this weekend? Its probably going to be rubbish but a couple more days of settled weather might do it.

It's likely to be horrible & murky this weekend I think. We need a week of nice calm weather & we have just had some big spring tides which wouldnt have helped the vis.
